My telephone number is brand new - no one has ever had it before.  These people are bogus.  I recorded my conversation with them when I demanded they never call me again.  Should they call again, I'll report them to the Attorney General of my state.

Same story as everyone else. I called a couple of times trying to stop the calls.I finally got a real person who stated she was from a collection agency and wanted to speak to my husband. I asked her what company this was and what did she want. She just repeated my questions as if she was trying to buy some time to think of a good response. I told her that I looked the toll free number up on the computer and saw it was a scam. She ask "what number?" I told her the 1-800-419-0724 and guess what!!!!!! she hung up on me.. Sounds really fishy to me. Maybe they will stop calling.

If you get somebody on the line tell them you researched the number and that it shows that it is a scam. see if you get the same response.

I called the number back, sat on hold for about 15 minutes, then a guy answered "CCS" and I told him my situation--I keep getting calls for someone named Gabriel who must have had this number before me.  The guy at CCS was actually really professional and advised me that it could take up to 48 hours to remove my number from their autodialer but he assured me it would be done.
Maybe I'm gullible or optimistic, but I think maybe it helps to be politely assertive with these people... they are annoying, but they're just doing their jobs & have no control over what numbers their computers dial out.
We'll see if they call me again.

I was just fed the same line of CRAP - trying to collect a debt from 2002 - that's 5 years ago - they couldn't provide a list of the supposed music I bought when I asked for it ($42??!!).  Total BS!!  Anyway, isn't there a statute of limitations on this sort of thing???

what a waste of time & money
Just another cell phone owner tired of hearing about somebody else's past mistakes...I can't do anything about it.
They've called me 3x's in the last week.  Tried calling back, but just sit on hold.  Not worth it to try to help the poor in-debt [***] out.  Sorry man.  Its gotta be karma for your actions.

Why must our society make things so hard for everyone?  Our world would be so much more content if we each took more responsibility for ourselves.
And here we all find ourselves on a soapbox created just so we can voice our opinion in this free country.
Is it a good thing when the jobs we're manifesting in the markeplace are mindless?

OKAY -- I've been getting messages at home from these people for over a week. FINALLY decided to call.  After 2 attempts I finally got through to a live person.  It IS a BMG collection call (like many others here) and I explained that I haven't had a BMG account in years and honestly wouldn't give any information to a strange collection agency over the phone.  I told her that I would take it up with BMG myself.  She actually gave me the originial BMG account number and I plan to call tomorrow. SUPPOSEDLY I have been placed on their do not call list.  We'll see what happens.

The call comes in on my phone and they do not leave a message.  I believe it is a telemarketer.

My husband had a BMG account about 8 years ago. He cancelled it and now we are receiving calls from 1-800-419-0724 and to call back within normal business hours. I just called and it said the same message. I just deleted it. I think the air horn would be a great idea also. Does anybody know what the statute of limitation is for WV...Mine number is suppose to be unlisted and I don't even know how they got my number.

Just got a call from this number - "stay on the line for an important personal business message for...." "This is not a telemarketing call - please stay on the line for an important message" the recording read off an eleven digit "file number", asked again that i stay on the line, and asked me to press star if i wanted that information repeated. I didn't, and it hung up. I am unclear if the file number cited was the message, or a reference to the message. It gave a phone number, but no suggestion to call the number or reason to do so. Posted this after being on hold for half an hour while calling back to demand an explanation.

Here's a new one for you all to ponder. I seriously doubt they are anything other than some sort of scam. They have since changed the number they leave on their outgoing message by one digit. This makes it our company number. Now we get about 30 phone calls a day asking why we are calling them. When we call them to have them take our number out of their msg as others have said we are placed on hold for so long it hangs up. I wish you all luck, I am at my wits end with this nonsense.

They are calling my cell phone and when I call back, I am put on hold forever.  I think this is some sort of scam.  My cell phone number is strictly friends and family.  No one should have it unless my provider is selling it.  My advise is do not answer or respond to these calls.

I don't think this is a scam. I just think they're a collection agency that is violating numerous consumer rights laws.

I've been getting calls for John C Cornier (that's not my name).

The message said "If you're not this person, call 1-800-419-0724 on Monday, and use file number 09003267691."

I followed their instructions, and was transferred to someone else who hung up on me.

I tried calling again, with the same results.

    not fallin for it
I got an automated call on my cell phone stating it was a personal business message for (my name) and that by staying on the line I was acknowledging I was that person. I was given a website for my "privacy" to go to with a reference number. Iw ent to the site and did not use the number...something about CCS rang a bell.(this is the site: https://www.ccsusa.com/ccsnotice/index.ihtml?jump=true&thread=cn)It is called certified notice.com...... I scrolled down the page and found out it was CCS...they have been calling me for quite sometime. I have nothing in collections though; I even pulled my credit reports to makes sure I didn't. I will not be verifying my name, number, or address to people I don't know and for reasons that are not accurate. If it were a legitamte business, I would have received something by certified snail mail, not certified internet web page...sounds fishy.....

These guys are shady dealers and scammers and if you get a call from them file a 1088 Complaint with the FCC at https://esupport.fcc.gov/form1088/consumer.do and if you are on the National Do Not Call List, file a Complaint at https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx.

If the government gets enough complaints from you, we can put these guys out of business.
