This IS illegal.  They have NO RIGHT to call you in the first place, and the proof of that was that the woman got nasty right away with you.  That's what people who have been CAUGHT doing WRONG (aka CRIMINALS) do, when they get caught.  Honest people who make honest mistakes will most often be embarrassed, apologetic, etc.

Although they COULD have innocently called a number that was FORMERLY used by a previous customer of theirs (in which they DO have the "right" to call that number - if they don't know someone else now uses it) they STILL must comply with your request to have it removed from their database.  See above for 'proof' of guilt/intent, via attitude!

Unfortunately, I do believe the law gives them 30 days after your request to comply.  BUT a LEGIT, UPSTANDING company will do everything it can to prevent a second call, even within the 30 days.

If you continue to receive these calls past the 30 days, then you should contact the FTC at:

You MAY have a case for COLLECTION OF FINES, up to $1500 PER CALL.
