this makes since now. I also registered with Davids Bridal. now I know how they got my information.  We were taking a 2nd honeymoon. Vacation, yes, but not with these people- we'll stick with AAA. At least we can see a real person there!!!!

just received a voucher for 1300 dollars from Caribbean cruise line. called 1-800-441-6306 to get info.  Your cruise and apparently a two night stay on the cruise is included.  They try to get you to do an extended stay package and the 1300 dollars is applied.  However, the want all these mysterious fees up front - port costs and taxes....the people were rude when i asked sooo many questions and then they hung up on me when i suggested they pay and i will reimburse them.  what a joke

Received this in the mail today, sounds like the same thing you folks are describing, $1300 check voucher for the trip (expenses) and directions to call this 1-800 number, with in three days. Totally free except that they wanted Port/Government tax fees of $59 Per Person. The voucher was for two people, says a lot on the voucher thing itself, I have scanned it and will post it here I guess. don't care about the address and stuff being on there.. For those of you that think you have been scammed here are a few things you might do:

    1) Contact VISA IMMEDIATELY, LIKE NOW! In your terms of service , there is something found to be a scam/fraud/Identity theft , I believe they will forgive it, and you get your money back. I could be wrong about this but I would start with VISA. CALL THEM TODAY!  Explain the situation to them... See what they have to say.. VISA doesn't look kindly on FRAUD..

       2) This may be something out of they country in such a case you probably don't have much lea way but, if it is in the United States, you can write to your local Attorney General Office. Also explaining the situation, wait for a reply... If it has any return address or what not for were it came from (I just tore it open and threw the envelope away) popped the letters into my pocket and went out grocery shopping, thinking I would look at it later..

       3) Contact the local POST MASTER GENERAL (You would have to look it up but Fraud threw the mail is something like a CLASS A, B, or C Felony!!!!

You may want to contact your local news station, they are always asking for help from the public about scams. They may even do their own investigation into it.

There is a second number on the back of the form that says "PORTHOLE CRUISE MAGAZINE 2009 EDITION-IN-CHIEF AWARD, with some blue icon at the bottom right.

    This other number is 1-800-445-4657

    GOOD LUCK PEOPLE

In response to all the people who are saying that you can never get something for nothing... You're right.  They probably would make you sit through a presentation, or sell you extra stuff.  But that doesn't make it not worth it.
My sister and I went to a presentation recently, a couple hours long, with the promise that if we did we'd get travel voucher for flights and a 2 night stay in Orlando.  We did it, they gave us the vouchers, the trip went smoothly except for airport delays.  It was perfectly legitimate though it sounded too good to be true (they said it would have complimentary food and beverages at the presentation- which they didn't, that was the only disappointment.

For one thing, that sucks to hear about your mother... But another thing is why do you let her(84 year old grandma with dementia) have a credit card in the first place???

we receive the same voucher in the mail where we get a free trip to the caribbean for 2 days. it was address to my husband's 90 year old step dad. i didnt get excited at all cause i know that he has been receiving a lot of scam mails, but my husband was. he tried to call this number but no one answered. I was suspicious so i decided to google their toll free number then i was led to this website. thanks for the information. i tried to check the voucher again, i noticed that it was copied from a real voucher, scanned and then reprinted. the staples were obvious. glad we know before we were able to call the number.

The number was on the $1,300 free cruise voucher received 1/4/10.  The letter was 1st class postage and addressed to my "online name" not my real first or last name.  I had signed up for some travel brochures and the fake name got on a list online.  They got the name and address from some online form I filled out.  I did fill out the Ed McMans million giveaway using the fake name, so it might come from there. Too good to be true, but I coundn't use it any way since it was not my name.

i just recieved this voucher in the mail today. its worth $1,300 all they asked for was a departure fee and then they told me about the $798.00 at the end. i was foolish to give out my credit card number im 23 and have two kids and a husband. i was excited to know that i won something, never won anything in my life, it sounded great, after i found this website and what people was saying i destroyed my credit card, actually it was a prepaid debit card, and had never been activated. thank goodness i read these comments, needless to say they got the credit card number but it wasnt activated and had no money and was destroyed shortly after.

Just because someone doesn't do refunds doesn't mean they're a scam.

You must work there.  You trick your victims out of hundreds of dollars or more, they get nothing in return, you don't give back the money, you don't even obey the laws of the Florida (scam capital of the USA) which require you to let your victims cancel in 30 days.

What is about the concept of a SCAM that you don't understand? Don't try to run your scam here, scammer, the people who find this site know better.

Maybe SCAM isn't the right word after all, how about CRIME?

Just got this in the mail today 1/22/10.  Googled the ship name first the ship is real at least lol. Then noticed the phone numbers didn't match so i googled that and found this site.  First off the cabin classes are written with different names on the ship thought that was wierdnoticed when i held the voucher up to the light there was no watermark even though it looked like it should have one. My official use only confirmation number on the front is 434201782.  Willing to bet yours says the same thing. Got the 2 night cruise for two adults and the 1300 voucher. I just have to pay port fees and gov taxes of 59 pp.  Might call tommorow just to screw with them. Its interesting if you google porthole cruise magazine scam. The ask yahoo one is interesting, some people actually got on the boat!  It is a converted ferry boat. Not a real "New" cruise ship.

They get your name from places like Priceline and Orbitz, then they get you to book the reservation with a retainer for $300-$1000 depending on the level of service you want.  Then a week before the trip they call you and say that they can NOT accommodate you and offer a different date (in the hopes that you will cancel the reservation) then when you decide to cancel they keep the deposit because you canceled (like a cancelation fee for a doctor vistit).  SOL is not Spanish for The Sun
