- Baffled in Delaware-MHP71I received a call on my cell phone after someone in used my name as a reference. The ambulance bill was never paid so they are calling anyone who will give them information. What a joke! I called them and advised they must remove my phone number.

- GregThis is the same as many other posts. I am receiving automated calls 2-3 X per week from 800-468-0219. When I have answered, they say that "This is not a solicitation, please stay on the line." I have always hung up. When they leave a message, the leave me contact information. This is a new work cell phone for me, I've had the number since 6/30/08. I would like for the calls to stop, and I know that I am not who they would be trying to collect from, but if someone is seriously after money, then they would have an acutal person call me.

- Suckitphonescammers| 2 repliesThey call me all the time!!! i had paid months ago and they say i didn't and now i'm like..is this a scam or some crap! If it was legit, they would have a real person who is detail oriented call me with no waiting.

- yourright replies to Suckitphonescammers| 1 replyAfter calling them back the first time and telling them I can only pay by installments, they told me that's no problem. Yet they STILL kept calling me even after I paid payments for two months!!!!!
- Michael Z. WilliamsonThey're at it again. They've been calling for the last month. None of us have been in an ambulance in over a decade, and that was paid by insurance.
- issue a cease and desist letter replies to BillYou can legally stop all the harassing phone calls from the collection agencies. You can send a cease and desist letter through certified mail with return receipt requested.
Once they receive your cease and desist letter, they are required to stop all the communications except to notify you about the actions that will be taken against you. Use this letter as your consumer rights are outlined in the fdcpa law.
If they wish to continue collecting, they would have to do in writting but no more calling you:

Companies like these can get any phone number (including cell phones) to call and extort money out people. Why do you think they don't give you any information on who they are, who the debtor is, or how much they say is owed??? They can't because it's FAKE.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR CELL PHONE MINUTES BY ANSWERING OR CALLING BACK. Any legitimate debt collector will notify you by MAIL, and under FEDERAL LAW must provide you, upon request, all the info you need to determine who/when/how the debt was incurred so you can dispute it if necessary.

203-649-1219 - rthomp2677We received a phone call from this company, asking us to verify info on a loved one. They would not talk to us until we faxed them a copy of our power of attorney. While preparing to fax the paperwork, we looked online and found this website.

- UnhappyThe "Ambulance Company" calls randomly, no set pattern. I have returned the calls (twice) to get them off my back, and they have promised to take our number out of the system when I convince them I am not the one they are after....but they never do, and after a while, they are back calling. I talked to the FTC and they said send the Certified Letter with Return Receipt requested (after you look up the number on Google)and they can only contact you one more time....then call the FTC again and they will step in. The FTC is giving them way too much rope if you ask me, but maybe they will eventually hang themselves.

- RetiredButNotBrainDeadThe "Ambulance Company" left a message on my answering machine with instructions to call 800-468-0219 and gave a reference number to mention. When I called the 800 number to straighten out the matter I got a recording instructing me to call a "900" number to contact them. Duh.. I don't know what happens if you call the 900 number, and I'm not going to find out.

- afox| 1 replyI am getting calls from a Phoenix AZ # 480-270-6300 almost daily and at random times day and night. They never have a live person on the phone or leave a message on the answering machine. When I answer, a pre-recorded woman's voice directs me to call 1-800- 468-0219 and give a id # for a bill owed to Rural Metro ambulance service. When I called that number more pre-recorded messages on how to "pay my bill". I have never been to Phoenix or San Diego, where they say they are located. No one in my family has used an ambulance, so I know I do not owe them a bill. I am planning on going to their website www.ruralmetro.com to write a complain and to get a mailing address to send a registered letter to them requesting them to stop the harassment.

- RicardoSouthwest Ambulance took me to emergency room, was supposed to send bill to medicare and next thing I know I get a call from 800-468-0219 about paying the bill. With the original bill was a form that had to be filled out and returned to P.O. Box 2812, Scottsdale, AZ 85252-2812, phone 1-888-867-0740, FAX 480-606-3675.
The form, sent via US mail and the call, via interstate commerce, demanded a death certificate if I had died. My neurologist had told me I had 9 months to 2 years to live and then caused over medication which sent me to the hospital. Nice way to start the new year.- Caller: National Collections

- EdI received frequent automated calls from someone claiming to represent Rural/Metro, Southwest Ambulance Services, and San Diego Medical. They left a call back number, 1-800-468-0219, and a reference number, just as other people have described. When I called them they wanted my personal information and yet would tell me nothing about themselves. I called Southwest Ambulance Services directly, who told me that neither the call-back number nor the reference number meant anything to them.
