ole replies to This is not a scam
Rural Metro is far from a legitimate company. They make money by intimidating old sick people and others even if they have made mistakes in their billing or contact information. They pay people tons of money to be rude and mean while trying to get payments that may not be accurate statements. They hound and terrorize and upset the home life of their victims by constantly calling with recorded messages, but making it impossible to contact anyone to sort out the problem. It won't be long until this company is gone, because there will be laws put into effect with real teeth, to end this sort of bullying.  This has been happening to us after this company made human mistakes on two bills, but they will not admit or fix their mistakes, will not accept or return calls or listen to reason.

    Not my Bill
    http://www.ruralmetro.com/contactus.asp

I called to request my number be taken off their call list.

First the guy pretended he couldn't hear me and faked his voice so it simulated the call breaking up.

I clearly repeated I wanted my number off his call list.

When he asked for my name, I told him it was none of his business and he quickly hung up.

I contacted ParentGiving.Com after receiving a voice mail from 480-270-6326 (Scottsdale, AZ) with this 800 number as the call-back (and a "reference number") and a couple of subsequent phone calls from 1-800-917-7244, which I looked up on this site and has turned out to be the same scammer.  No voice mail.

I only received these calls on my cell phone, not my home phone.  The voice mail mentioned my name, identified my father's name, and said it was a "personal business matter."

I recently bought something for my father via ParentGiving so I wondered if either they had been hacked or perhaps had received limited information by paying for it.  They responded immediately and after seeing these websites about the victims of this scam they are concerned.  By the way, they called me at the number in their database... same number at which the scammer is calling me.

For those who do not know ParentGiving.com, it is a web company that you can use to buy supplies for your elderly parents, especially if they live far away it is very convenient (and also convenient for a scammer who can convince you that you didn't know about the ambulance ride.  If this sounds familiar to you, maybe we could have identified one of the sources of the scammer.

I received a call from 8004680219 at 9:00 this morning.  No one responded after I said hello several times, so I hung up then dialed *69 to get the phone number.  If this is really Southwest/Metro Ambulance, my late husband had been transported from a hospital to a adult care nursing home shortly before he passed away in March, but this bill has been paid.  If I still owed money, I'm sure there would have been a message or someone would have spoken to me.  If they don't stop calling, I'll report them to the National Do Not Call Registry.

    Amazed at unethical business pratices
This is a legitimate company, the collections department for Rural Metro Ambulance. Check out this website: http://www.ruralmetro.com/billing-information.html.  It just seems like a SCAM because of their terrible business practices. They are definitely not following legal practices and I plan to report them to as many agencies as possible. They have put me through a lot of stress for no reason as our ambulance bill was already paid for by insurance! Please report them so that this harassment can stop and others will not have to suffer!

    Honestly it seems pretty legit..

at first they kept calling once every two days or so, but there was nobody on the line, not even an automated message, then it just hung up.
today i finally decided to call back, got a voice recording saying it was some ambulance service, it gave me a few options, but i just stayed on the line.

finally someone picked up, a nice lady who identified herself as "rural medical", and politely asked for my phone number to look up the case. she asked me if a knew a (first, last name) person, and i said no, never heard of her before.
she then apologized and told me i wouldn't be receiving any calls anymore.

    we'll see what happens..

This is a collection call from Rural Metro Ambulance who apparently collects for many different companies. They started calling before the insurance even was to pay the bill. They also call even though they have been receiving regular scheduled monthly installations toward a $460.00 remainder post insurance. Talk to them once and then refuse calls after that. Any company harassing paying customers is really stupid.

I used the local ambulance in Sunnyvale about a month ago and got a bill from these guys which has PO BOX 3495 Toledo, OH 43607, as return address. Called the number and they started to ask my name, address and DOB & when I told them my insurance will pay the bill, they hung up. Any idea what to do about this?

Received the standard recorded call today, very low in volume so that I could barely hear them.  I promptly hung up.  I did, in fact, recently (mid-July) ride in a Yuma RURAL METRO ambulance, but my insurance covered all the associated costs.  If they call back I will take action against them.

Received a call from 1-800-468-0219 saying it regards a business matter and with a reference number to call. Does not identify who is calling or what it is in regard to. Since they cannot identify themselves and it is a computer voice I am not calling them back. If they were legitimate they would leave actual specifics and identify themselves and the matter to be discussed. I do not call back unidentified people.
