I got this letter today for a car I sold 3 years ago! My current car is out of warranty this month and I considered buying an extended warranty but only if I could get it directly from the manufacturer.

I got this in the mail today. I called and asked the rep why they sent me something that threatened fines and imprisonment when I already had coverage for my car, and what gave them the right to make this look like some offical document from the DMV or something? He couldn't answer me, but offered to remove my name from their mailing list... Scam if I ever saw one!

Im a former fraud investigator and I can tell you this is a scam. Steer clear (no pun intended) of this offer. It is nothing but bad news and plenty of headaches.
Always ask questions of the company and verify everything, then verify a second time.

Then they asked about the car that i have now and if i wanted it on that car. I said no... Dont trust this company at all...

I got the 1st and 2nd notice and showed my husband....needless to say, he told me that i need to get our warranty extended before it expires. I called and ask the guy over the phone how did he get my information and he told me that, "they are the company that handles claims when our vehicle is to be repaired." I got switched over to the "authorization dept" where he asked questions about the vehicle as well. In the process I googles their name and the 55 complaints that have gotten from the BBB. I was on hold but soon after reading these comments I hung up. I will be contacting the dealership to see what warranties they can offer to me for me to purchase. Glad I researched them and found this because I was going to go ahead and purchase a warranty from them. Thank you all for your comments.

My mother (81) has been harping on me because she thought this "Notice" was about a recall on my car. She said they would stop paying for the recall repair charges if I did not contact the place. Turns out, of course, that she is wrong. I, like so many thousands of people, never received a 1ST NOTICE, and I am aware of the zillions of scans out there offering warranties. Thank you so much, everyone, for adding your comments. With just a little bit of research, we can all avoid such scams. I do wonder why, after so many complains in just one state, the BBB and the DA have not done something to stop these people from operating. Sure, it might cost a few bucks, but nothing close to the amounts of money being scammed from people who are unaware of the ways of the world. That being said, my sister told me she had purchased a warranty, I went ballistic. LOL After all of my questions were answered, it turned out she had gone to the dealership to purchase her extended warranty. A few days after paying $3,500 for that warranty, her air conditioner went kaput, and they shelled out to completely replace that system. A week later, it went out AGAIN, due to some little part that has been problematic for the dealership, so it was replaced A SECOND TIME. She is so grateful for the timing of the warranty! :)

ALL OF YOU PEOPLE OUT THERE, IF YOU HAVE ELDERLY FAMILY OR FRIENDS, TAKE HEED. These companies don't care who they scam, all they want is $$$$$.  Please check your loved one's mail for these kinds of letters, because unfortunately they (companies) are very coniving and slick.  They almost had me believe what they were selling was a good thing.  I am on a limited income, thinking that this warranty would save me $ on car repairs, (which are quite costly) in the long run.  We need to protect our loved ones that are easily swayed by scumbags that could talk us into buying a wooded lot in the Atlantic, unfortunately there are people that prey on others misfortunes, without a second thought.

Just like all the others, I received the "2nd Attempt" letter.  Although I recognized it as a scam, I googled them and confirmed my suspicions.  Then, having some time on my hands, I called them and listened to their line of crap for about 20 minutes before telling them to forget it.  I figure that was 20 minutes they could not spend scamming someone else.  This is an unscrupulous outfit preying on naive citizens.  I would not do business with them AT ANY PRICE.

I received a IMPORTANT NOTICE (also with those threatening warnings on fines and imprisonment) from HONDA PILOT offering extended warranty on my car through 2017. On the inside. upper left, RSVP was printed instead of a company name or return address. The Number listed on upper right  is 1-888-582-7775.  I wasn't interested in it so I ignored it.

A few days later, I got a 2nd Attempt notice (like most of others commented). This time NAVISS is printed on the upper left and the phone number is 1-800-483-1759. Coverage is through 2016. By this time I thought I MIGHT be interested in another three years of extended warranty so I called for a quote and coverage details. I first called the number on the first notice. Recordings eventually directed me to a voice mail after some waiting. I hang up and dialed the number on the 2nd notice (ending with 1759). First talked to a Chris and asked him about the coverage and quote. He transferred me to Mike, who after asking about my mileage on the car and explaining about how I would be given an offer at end of the phone call to accept, passed me back to Chris to explain the coverage details to me.

Well, this Chris first offered me some $3500 plus policy for 4 years of comprehensive, pre-authorized coverage with $100 deductible and asked me to accept on the phone right away. When I asked him to mail me something in writing so I see what the contractual terms and conditions are before I commit, he said he can send me a PDF file after I make a small payment on the phone today, at which point I got suspicious.  I told him if that's the case then it wouldn't work because I'm not going to agree to anything before I see what I am agreeing to. Then he wouldn't let me go and gave me 'a good deal' by cutting the policy down to $2900 if I agree to make a small payment of $70 "today".

By this time more doubts rose in my mind and I told him I can't agree to his offer today and would have to call him back another time if I need the policy. He said the offer is good only today and he can't guarantee the policy price if I call back, I say I understand and that's OK. I then asked for their company name and its location. He told me NAVISS and Missouri. And I googled it and saw all the comments.

I will be watchful if they call me back (now that they have my phone number, Yikes!) But I also want to alert others to look out for the other 1-800 number listed on the first notice. Apparently they are connected!

    Sounds like

I got the "2nd Attempt " letter today, also, with no first attempt ever received.  It was interesting to note that they are offering to "Extend" my service contract.  How can they extend a contract I never had with them?  They were not a party to the service contract I had on the car originally.  BIG RED FLAG!  They are just barely stopping short of making misrepresentations in this solicitation.  I would never deal with them....

I received this "2nd attempt" notice today in the mail.

You wanna know the hysterical part? I do not own a 2005 Jeep Cherokee that requires a renewal of insurance coverage... and, as of this writing, I do not possess a valid driver's license. What, I ask, would be the logic in paying for coverage on a vehicle I do not own and could not legally operate if I did?

Luckily, a quick plugging in of the 1-800 number into an internet search engine brought me here. The only reason I bothered to do that was out of concern that I was on the nasty end of a case of identity theft. Glad to see this is just random unscrupulous nonsense from some weasel. (I really despise forums that prohibit the use of the, per George Carlin, "Seven Words"... This forum is one of them.) Based on the previous posts, I'd suggest avoiding contact with said weasel altogether. No sense opening yourself up to future suspect actions from the same individual.

    That is all.

I worked there and have been in the vehicle service contract industry for years. Where I do see everyines apprehension because of the history with US Fidelis and that whole situation it's really the admins you should focus on Naviss does use good admins, companies that you'll see at the dealer... Just like an insurance broker. To be honest it's to hard to scam or cheat anyone we have to be licensed now and are always monitored by the VPA those of you that don't know what that is it's kind of like the BBB or the FDCPA maybe even internal affairs of the warranty industry. A bunch of attorneys that are on our [***] I'll admit there are some people that work in the industry that are cold and out for the money however there are good products out there. Ones that WILL pay for your repairs. As for the letter OF COURSE it's pretty serious lol it's a scare tactic just like when you see a commercial for weight loss "moving slower, pants too right, do you want to see your kids graduate... Worried about heart disease or attack... Etc call NOW to loose weight now!" It's all urgancy to get you to call it's an advertisement something to get you thinking... Do I agree with it no it's a but much but in reality there should be urgancy because for every one person that is offended or NOT interested there is 10 that are and there are cut offs for miles etc that could take you from new car to just powertrain coverage and of course it would be our fault that you left the notice on the counter and called in to late and bought [***]  coverage. We legally have to offer you the highest level your car qualified for or it's our ass. I know the warranty industry is scary because of the flack but don't be afraid of a good thing would I buy one yes I would. The company is going to take care of you they [***] us if your not happy they go out of business it costs more to write these policies the. You think just some insight hope it helps don't attack me either like the other guy I'm not mocking if you want questions answered or to know how it works I'll tell you I'm just a sales person nothing special but it's definutkey not a scam

Hey Peaches I'll explain how it works... I'm obviously not getting paid for walking you  through this but I want you to understand because they ARE good coverages ok

Ok.... You buy a car brand new... Say it's a Hyundai they come with 36/36 (3yrs OR 36000 miles) of new car coverage (bumper to bumper) this is a warranty it comes from Hyundai itself the ONLY Policy/coverage you will EVER get from Hyundai is this policy the manufacturers warranty you will never buy or get another coverage from Hyundai themselves ok...
Now the same day you buy this brand new car with the manufacturers warranty the salesman WILL offer you another program you have the option to "extend" your standard 3yr policy by another 2 or so years (you will pay for double coverage probably 1800 dollars (900/yr)) ...(just so this is clear you have a free bumper to bumper policy they sell you 60/100 of extended coverage that starts the day you purchase so you only extend for 2 years .. Hope I didn't loose anyone)
.. You just purchased what I would have sold you for less... The dealer uses the SAME administrator we use industry wide at Naviss or any other extended warranty company. The Hyundai Assurance program is written by Enterprise Financial Group the SAME admin we use in the industry... Make sense?

Ok fast forward AFTER you leave the lot with your new car and AFTER salesmen there has sold you on paying twice as much for coverage you don't need your car is now5 years old both coverages are expired you ARE NOT protected and Hyundai CANNOT cover you anymore that is where companies like these come in at this point it's not a warranty it is a vehicle service contract because it is NOT OFFERED FROM THE MANUFACTURERS but it's THE SAME THING YOU BOUGHT AT THE DEALER even better you aren't paying as much. It will help you if you don't feel comfortable with this company go to another do your research look up the administrator that is who you need to focus on because if Naviss or any other company you buy from isn't here tomorrow you want to know your admin will be.

sorry I started to say the coverage will save you money real talk at 122 dollars for labor here in MO IT'S EXPENSIVE if you have an old car let's be honest you can't afford a new one and don't want to pay 5k for an engine. (I'm not being rude I own a 2000 I can't buy a new car either)

Oh AND they do push for the sale because the coverage is really not garunteed after the call they can't promise you the same cost and  coverage because it is all based on your mileage and the age of the car BUT they can do this because there is a 30 review period where you can get a full refund. And I did mean to bring up too there is 3 pages worth of complaints here yes 64 I think on the BBB probably another combined 100 on other websites and forums but THOUSANDS of customers nationwide honestly probably more like millions if were counting from every company this isn't taboo anymore.

I'm glad your sisters extended coverage worked out for her... IT PRICES A HUGE POINT look at your sisters policy find the administrator then look them up.... They have a contract with a company just like NavisS allowing them to sell their coverage IT'S THE SAME THING your sister just paid too much. As for the DA it a
Attorney General that's another huge point these companies sell to THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE NATIONWIDE they're still in business scams get shut down They aren't going anywhere because YEARS AGO laws and regulations were put in place. You can't call something a scam because you don't understand it and them in the same sentance say your sister used her coverage and was thankful it's the same thing.

If you get a coupon in the mail for a pizza and you're not hungry, do you call the pizza place and complain to them that you aren't interested in a pizza? Do you call the dry cleaner and complain that all your shirts are permanent press and you don't need dry cleaning? When you get a mailer that tells you that your air ducts are dirty, do you call and scream at the people that you already had yours cleaned? It's an advertisement that comes in the mail. Get over it.
