- AccessChaos| 1 replyReceiving multiple calls from this number to a specific extension
- Donny SimzThat's AARP's Direct #. A lot of times the give the wrong number to call back (?235800) and you get another company unrelated.
- Caller: AARP
- Call type: Debt collector
- acorn| 2 repliesCaller ID is Toll Free Calle. A Landline. AARP P.O. Box 93158 Long Beach CA 90809-3158 PROBABLE ID THEFT/MEDICAID FRAUD
- Caller: AARP
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- FORMER customerI made the mistake of signing up with AARP for Medigap insurance. I couldn't even set up my account online until my policy took effect, so I had to call the company to get my incorrectly spelled ID card replaced. I couldn't even get a properly spelled ID card sent to me without calling and without jumping through a lot of hoops, but then AARP had my cell phone number. AARP has been making incessent phone calls to my cell. But they never leave a message. I'm just plain disgusted with this company. Others have had the same problem with AARP calling constantly and leaving no message.
Thankfully, I'm within my six-month window for picking up Medigap insurance, and I've canceled and switched to USAA.- Caller: AARP Medicare Insurance
- Call type: Telemarketer
- SusanCalles but when you answer they don't say anything
- kylie replies to acorn| 1 replyIt is not a fraud it is for United Health Care an insurance company for Medicare recipient's looking for additional insurance.
- AnonymousI'm a policy holder with AARP-United Healthcare and If this is AARP or United Healthcare, why doesn't the Caller ID say so? When I see "Name Unavailable" I know it's a telemarketer or solicitor and don't answer. I'm dubious about this number and will not respond to any calls from it.
- Caller: Name Unavailable
- LouisIs this a real number for AARP? They called several times, I answer, no one is there! What gives?
- Caller: AARP
- Wary person| 5 repliesTypical telemarketing scam. Person called, asked to verify my name to see if I was the correct person, then started asking for personal information: what is your address, could you verify your middle initial? That sets of red flags: any company that calls and immediately starts asking for my personal information is a company I do not wish to do business with. HANG UP!
- Caller: "Hartford"???
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Disgusted| 1 replyOn DNC and wish they would enforce sanctions to stop the constant phone calling harassment. Not leaving a message signals their negative intent.
- annie| 1 replyI received a call just a few minutes ago. Since caller ID came up "unknown", I hung up on the second ring without answering. I was interested to read the above posts and find out that the call was from United Healthcare. I had Medigap insurance with AARP for the past 2 years, but I discontinued it, and as of Feb.1st, I am using another company. Two weeks ago I notified United Healthcare that I want my policy to end on Jan. 31st, and I received a conformation letter from them earlier today. Therefore, United Healthcare would have no reason to call me anymore, so I'm not sure these calls are from AARP. It sounds like a scam to me.
- Caller: AARP United Healthcare
- name witheld| 5 repliesI only discovered this was AARP by doing a reverse call search. AARP has been cited many times for supporting far left activities and deceptive advertising. I also discovered that United Health Care, of which I am a member, does NOT require AARP membership to use. I only learned this after phone calls to various AARP departments. AARP claims to be non-political but they are not. I will not support any political agency which cloaks itself as "a friend of senior citizens" and resorts to unwanted calls without the nerve to give out a caller id.
- Caller: AARP (but not on ID)
- Anonymous replies to kylieNot necessarily for "additional insurance" ... it is the customer support line.
- Anonymous replies to Wary person| 3 repliesNot necessarily a scam. I had just signed up and they called to make sure I received everything (ID card, program documents, etc.). When they asked for my name and DOB I politely told them that I don't give out that information to anyone that calls in to me. The representative very politely replied with, "No problem sir. If you have any questions, please call 800-523-5800. This is our customer service number. Have a good day."
I was already aware that this was the customer service number but I still don't give out any information unless I call them. The representative was very polite and accommodating, which certainly would not have been the case if this was a "telemarketing scam". - Anonymous replies to Disgusted"Not leaving a message signals their negative intent."
...and you know this HOW? Are you a psychologist or maybe a mind reader? - Anonymous replies to annieEverything is now a scam to everyone! Since you posted this on January 19th and you wanted it to discontinue on January 31st, maybe they are calling to verify your intent and to make sure that you have no further questions. According to your post, you are still technically a client of theirs. <SMH>
- Really? replies to name witheldYou make it sound like they are the Gestapo...Really?
"Political agency".....Really? - Chuck replies to name witheldAARP, in part, has a political agenda. They inform members of state and fed activities that affect seniors. They lobby and petition legislatures and US Congress about senior concerns. That is part of what they do and I like that.
- leighis 118005235800 the same number being discussed here? I keep getting this number calling all day!

- vrcsAnswered this toll-free number on my cell out of curiosity....Robo call claiming to be from Visa and Mastercard. Say they have been monitoring my activity for 6 mos and offered to lower my interest rate...DON'T HAVE! Gave the usual BS options. I just hung up. Return number on house phone.and found it to be the legitimate, but spoofed number for AARP. Notified AARP FRAUD DEPT. and FTC.
Strangly, when I went back to the list of recent calls, it was missing or replaced.
If you dont recognize the name/number, DO NOT ANSWER. If you happen to answer, DO NOT RESPOND IN ANY WAY; NOT BY VOICE, SELECTED NUMBER OR CALL BACK! If it is in the form of a pop-up, text or email, DO NOT SELECT A LINK. Assume any response to be a hidden link... (to hell). After all, they are scammers and you dont really know what you answered or consented to do, give or buy, for which your number may be billed. Open full address, take a screen shot then delete.
And don't waste your time with cute answers...there's no satisfaction and they don't care. They just move on to irritate or hook the next sucker. The longer you keep them on the line, the longer your access is open.
SCAMMING AND PHISHING ONLY WORKS IF THERE IS A MARKET (target, sucker). They are bottom feeders that have no limits, conscience, mothers, or legislation (DNC) except you.
You can file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission for any and all unwanted and/or unsolicited calls (cell or land-line), texts, scams, phishing, ID theft, and others at www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/Information#crnt
A legitimate caller will be identified, will leave a name, message, and call back number, giving you the option to respond. It will respect the DNC. You can file a complaint about offenders on the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY. Your registered number does not expire.
A legitimate notification will identify you by name and never use a link....no matter how real, authentic, promising or threatening it appears. Call your private contact number to check.
All the TV stations and Internet providers should run programs at prime times about scams and how to recognize, report and deal with them. That would be a public service of public interest...and hopefully, make these scammers into real losers.- Caller: FRAUD
