Not so ridiculous - Phone scammers spoof (fake) the number that show in caller ID.  That is just one of the tricks used to gain your trust.  It pays to be skeptical of any unwanted call.  If I get a call like that, I am inclined to call IN on a number I dial, that I know I can trust.

This is the number to call for AARP/United Healthcare customer support.  It shows up on the phone as "Hopkins County Family Young" but that is incorrect.

Hi everyone. I can officially clear up the answer to your concerns about united health calling and leaving messages on your answering  machine. I worked there for 27 years. We perform welcome calls on a automatic outbound system. We were instructed to hang up if we got an answering machine so it would give us acga ce to call back. At times there would be silence when a person says hello. This happens when the dealer is running a little behind. And if you cancel your coverage. As a courtesy we call to see if you had any concerns . Hope this helps!

I was called numerous times and no message.  If United Healthcare truly wants to keep customers, they need a new business model.  Otherwise, USAA is jumping with joy.  I've blocked because of the scam or potential scam aspects.  And, I too will call USAA.

It seems like most companies, Social Security, and doctors do not use caller IDs any more. Which is extremely annoying, since they waste a lot of time trying to call all us people who are suspicious of every call that has no caller ID so we don't answer our phones, so it wastes time on their end and ours as both parties play phone tag trying to reach other in cases where we DO want to connect!

I recently signed up for AARP/UHC Medigap, I, too have been receiving multiple calls from this number.  If it is an important call, that requires additional information for my application, I am assuming that they would leave a message.  They never do, I won't answer!

AM ASN RETIRED; 6:36PM, 10/8/18, 1-800-523-5800, no message, however, it took a moment to disconnect, with a sound of a click & then busy signal.  This caller tried several times calling my landline, to no avail, as I don't answer callers I'm not expecting, nor those whom I don't know or numbers I don't recognize.   However, I am in receipt of at least 5+ calls per day that are unwanted, but amazing, most calls are a day or two after I've spoken to my family or friends over the phone about an issue, could be taxes, health, housing, windows, or  as I do pray the rosary during the week, & watch the daily & Sunday masses, I've gotten calls from a Robert Ritchie, from Hanover, Pa., to become a Captain at a Rosary Rally on Oct 13, 2018, standing on a corner by recruiting others to join me in this at times it's for Immaculate Heart of Mary or Our Lady of Fatima, today's was that I'll be in receipt of a package to Thank me for my interest & joining this rally, call about this was today, 10/8/18, 888-317-5571, 11:47am, from Robert Ritchie!  I've not gotten in touch with this person in Hanover, Pa., and have no desire to join this stance, not knowing the congregation, nor does my religious congregation do this without notice from our Bishop or the Pope, and only with fellow parishioners, perhaps merging with other parishes in our neighborhood or adjoining ones.  They don't make telephone calls recruiting such demonstrations!

This number has been calling me too, but I missed it twice and no messages left. I suspect it is a scam also after reading these notes.I looked up the real # to inquire about AARP United Health Care and it ends in 4734 although I am sure they have many phone numbers being they have multiple agents. I am not sure- but we have already gotten scammer calls. I get a  "something is wrong with Windows on your computer, ma'am"  call in a foreign accent countless times. Now when I answer and I am not sure who it is, I say nothing. I wait for them to speak. If they dont, I hang up.
