Thanks for the specifics - may I ask how you know this?  I figured those guys were somewhere in the chain of command, but didn't know how.  I also see that they've added another 1-800 number on their website.  It's now 1-800-540-1288.

Person who called said he was affiliated with my mortgage co. He said the call was part of a customer retention program by my mortgage co. to lower my mortgage rate for free so I would not drop them and refinance with another company.  I gave him the basic home info and last four of my SS#.  When I asked, don't you have my mortgage information right in front of you?, he said he was verifying the info.  Now I feel like an idiot for giving out any information and am freaking out because I feel somehow they are going to give me the shaft. Haven't talked to the second person who is supposed to call me back.  My belly screams SCAM!  I will not sign on.

They always had that #..It is used when people call in from the random phone call that you receive. I know this because I used to work there unfortunately. All he cares about is how much money you can bring him.. And he bounces checks on his employees. I have his cell # too...

Thanks again for the reply.  I'm surprised he's getting people to work for him as corrupt as he and his partners are.  I warned them that I would shed as much light on his company as possible if I wasn't refunded the money.  Any local news agencies that would pick up a story like ours and others to expose what they're doing?  Thanks.

James Assali (Meridian Financial Corporation) is a con artist that should be put under the jail.  He assured me that I would be approved for Mortgage Modification for a cost of $3500.
My application and $3500 was submitted on 9/14/2009.   No one from Meridian Financial Corporation contact me.   The majority of my status call went unanswered.   I could never get anyone to provide me with an earnest status of my application. Over a four month period my case was assigned to four difference processors at Meridian, each one would tell me a different lie.  Finally in last January 2010, I received a notice from Bank of America, with a notice date of 11/12/2009, stating that I application was declined.  To date, Meridian Financial Corporation has not provided me with a status report or a refund.

I wonder how many others have been has fallen victim to this man’s con.  I have written to several government officials including President Obama.   I want to see James Assali prosecuted to the fullest extend of the law.

Please, please, please do not consider doing business with this swindler.  He is a liar and theft.

I placed the call and  woman answered and said that james was out but she could help. Her name was Shardae Glover and her # was 1-800-532-0755 Ext 1314. Her email address was shardae.glover@meredian.com. fax # 1-800-540-1533. She wanted me to give her $2000.00 to lock it in at that rate, i told her i did not have that much, so she asked for $500.00 which i gave her. I found out that they were a fraud and ask for my money. tried calling several times a man answered her phone and said that she was out. We are still not able to reach her.

Received a refund in the amount of $1707.50 on 3/3/10.  Deposited it into the account the next day.  On 3/9/10, Meredian put a stop payment on the check.

    Did not fall for it.
Got a call from these scammers stating the same as above.  Called them back and asked for the business name as it was spoken so quickly in the message left that I could not make it out.  When asked to spell it the person hung up.  Made a second call............they hung up.  Made a third call and told them they were a scam and would be reported to my state attorney generals office...............and if they called again i would file a do not call complaint against them.  What a bunch of rip off people.  Sad that some fall for their tactics.

"Because of your excellent mortgage payment record, we can lower your interest rate to
5.375% . No points, no appraisal, just some basic info and a CC number for a one time
minimum fee. We are underwriters from Meridian Loan Services and work with all Mortgage
Lenders.  No charges to you because the lenders pay us."
Original recorded message came from "linda" of  "Meridian Loan Services" between April 20th
    and April 28th while I was away.  It sounded legit so I called  1 800 532 0725 on Apr 30th 2010.
I talked to "Martin Weekley at Ext 1315.  He sounded legit but didn't asked the proper
questions to my view point. I then checked out Meridian on the Internet  He was to e-mail
me an agreement but I havent received yet!!  I am on the Florida Do not Call List!!

I got a call from 1-800-532-0755 leaving a message that they were the underwriter for my loan, etc. as well. I didn't know it was a scam because a week before I'd sent in all the papers to my bank applying for a loan modification.  I gave out way too much info.  Luckily, I realized it was a scam that same day a few hours later (leaving me feeling very naive and vulnerable).  I have taken all the steps I can to prevent them from using the information they got from me, but I'm still scared that these crooks are ruthless.  They've got to be stopped.  They even made themselves sound religious "I'm having a blessed day."  (I bet they got a laugh out of that when I hung up.)

Thanks to all of you who have posted. I wish we'd seen it before we trusted this company. All we can do now is report him to every agency that might have an interest in his dealings, and hope no one else is a victim of his business dealings.

But James kept the payout from bank, telling us different reasons: it was for house payments (already paid,) it was our "contribution" for the loan, etc. He sent overnight checks intended for us to pay off debts through our loan consolidation (part of our mortgage) and then had them canceled before we could deposit them. He has jerked us around for 8 months: and I am tired of it. So what recourse is there but the BBB, the FBI (because keeping money intended for the client is theft,) and the Attorneys General of both states? How does this guy stay in business doing this stuff?
