My caller ID showed "Invalid Number" and the woman said her name was Sonja calling from Key Bank. Yesterday, I filled out an application at a Key Bank on my island off the coast of Washington State to see if I could get a loan. I've never worked with a bank in NY where this woman said she was located and then she wanted to give me an update on my loan application but first could she ask me some questions to confirm my identity. I said NO she could not and then she told me to call the branch where I had applied. Very unsettling to get a call like that. I would never give my info  and don't know why my phone id said invalid number and yet showed the call center number when I pressed the menu info on my phone. My branch manager is not available today so will talk to her on Monday.

I received a call from that number also, answering machine picked up and they hung up before the greeting message finished, so obviously a sales call, if it was official business, they would at least leave a message and ask you to call them.  Every so often, they contact their account holders trying to sell you new services.

I agree, they called, asked for a relative, I stated they were not home, can I take a message, she said she was from Key and it was a courtesy call. She then hung up.  The number came up on my caller ID as "out of area  0118005392968" now I called the number without the 01 international calling, it is my understanding that 01 is always international, am I wrong?  I have a Dr. that calls from Mexico and it always starts out as 01.  Once I called, the first thing they asked for was my debit card number or another account or card number in a computer voice...WTF I would NEVER just give anyone my account number when they asked for a real name that lives in my home....I called my family member to warn them!

I do not trust our phone system anymore, I had a call the other day with my name and phone number as the caller ID, I was so confused, how could my number and name be calling my phone, they stated they were from credit card service, dummies, like I'm going to believe that.  He argued with me and said mam, its not like I am going to steal from you in a foreign accent after I refused to give him my full credit card number. He knew too much, way too much and could not explain why my name and number came up on my caller ID, I am the dummy for even admitting it was my name, SCARY!!!  I called the phone company and they said there is a computer app that can allow anyone to put a name and phone number and hide the real number, That is scary, OMG, the government has got to get control over these bot, spam, scam and illegal calls.  Elderly are being robbed, people are being violated and the government thought the Do Not Call List was going to take care of things, they have gotten worse!!!!

Even if this was not a spam call today from Key Bank, it said "out of area", had a 01 in front of the 1-800 number and knew my family members name, said they where from Key, and when I called back, the computer says thank you for calling Key, NOT KEY BANK.  Now that I know anyone can change caller ID , it is absolutely stupid of Key Bank to ask for your debit card number or another account or card number , just like that.  STUPID and SCARY, I wish we could go back to the good old days...you cant trust anyone anymore!!!!!!!!

I Received a call at 7:39 PM on November 15 from 800-539-2968 and the caller ID displayed as "Genesys Dialer"  (note 539-2968 = "Key  2 you")  I did a web search for Genesys, and they appear to be a company for hire to make outbound  calls.  I presume if it really had been Key Bank calling me, they would probably have a correct and legitimate caller ID displayed.  I disconnected the call without waiting to hear whatever sales pitch it probably was.

I just received what I believe was a 'scam call' from 1-800-539-2968 "Genysis Dialer.  Internet search on this telephone number reported numerous such calls received by other telephone subscribers presumedly from Key Bank---but Key Bank does not conduct business in this matter.   In my opinion, this was nothing less than a 'robot call from some scammer attempting to engage in identify theft in ord3er to initiate some form of fraudulent account transaction (includes possible credit card transaction, fraudulent ATM cash withdrawal, illegal loan application and the like)'.
Unfortunatrely, there is absolutely nothing that can be down or nothing the feds or states can or will do to identify, locate, charge, indite and convict those perpetrating this type of crime.
Alll that can be done is to 'neither answer or return the calls and above all never give out any personal information that no doubt would result in your becoming a victom o identify theft.

"or will do" is more accurtate.  The fedshave the technology but refuse to use it.

This is in follow-up to several 'telephone scam calls' that I have received from 'OUTSIDE AREA..800-539-2968.  I have received yet another call from the same telephone scammer on May 18, 2016 @ 12:40 AM EST.  Although reported to the FEDs 'DO NOT CALL LIST", it would appear that the FEDS (FCC) can't do or 'WILL NOT DO' anything to locate, identify, arest, indict, convict and incarcerate the individual(s) responsible in commiting what I claim are 'illegal attempts to obtain private information for use in committing identify theft and fraud".

I went on line to view other consumer complaints filed under the HARP Refi Program 2016 by unexpecting victoms by telephone scam callers using 800-539-2968.  Caller ID shows GENYSYS DIALER 1-800-539-2968.  I was not surprised to find comment from one such victom stating "he/she had done a web search for a caller ID provided under the name of Genesys, and they appear to be a company for hire to make outbound calls",   If this information could be easily obtained by means of a web search by a normal person, then the questions remains "why can't the Feds (FCC) do the same and legally put an end to the telephone scammers operation".

Once again I neither answered the 'out-of-area telephone call nor was a message pertaining to the purpose behind the call left on voice mail'.  And I do not expect that this will be the end of such repeated telephone scammers calls; in that I an continuing to receive such calls on a monthly basis both under the caller IDs of Genesys and Out-Of-Area.  And the FEDs (FCC) seem to be content to ignore the problem and do absolutely nothing about it.

I got a letter from Keybank, where I have an account, with this number on it. I called and they said several suspicious transactions had been refused, and when they told me what they were I knew I hadn't made them. They have blocked my old card and are sending me a new debit card. This has happened several times in the past; the representative to whom I spoke even knew what my last debit card transaction was, so I'm 100% sure it was legitimate. If you call this number you will get Keybank; I have gotten calls in the past with my own phone number showing on the CID, so it's undoubtedly possible for someone to use Keybank's number as a smokescreen. That would explain the people who have had bad experiences with this number, but it's frightening because now I don't know when I answer the phone if it's really my bank or someone who pirated the number.

As a search quickly showed it was a Key Bank # I picked up and said Hello. There was a silence. A man's voice said Hello. I said hello. Silence.
If it WAS Key Bank, is was quite unprofessional.  The fellow seems so uncertain I doubt if it was a spoof!

Another call - this time saying only "Out of Area" and no message left.
This gives me a chance to correct a previous comment.
This is the number for Key Bank customer support, but it may have been spoofed,
as real Key Bank calls have ID, and they leave messages.

This time the caller id said Genesys dialer, and no message was left.
Yes the number would be Key Bank if called directly but like Laura posted above - we don't know if it's a call from the bank or a spoofed (fraud) unless we engage.
