Received message from this number while I was out (who calls in the middle of the day?  Hello - I WORK).  A woman with an extremely heavy accent (Lisa) claimed to be a student loan counselor and said it was VERY important that I contact her immediately.  Problem for her is that my student loan payments come out automatically and are always on time.  My personal loan counselor is a different woman and she calls from a non-800 number.

I smell a rat.

This is a student loan counsellor that isn't affiliated w/ your student loan company.  They let you know about "offers" to reduce payments and such.  I didn't call back, but they do leave a message w/ "offers".  The most recent was "Did you know that you can reduce your student loans by applying for family based reductions based on your family size..."

The company is hired by your guarantor to offer options for your loans. Just because you have direct deposit doesnt mean your loans are getting paid. They also offer ways to put your loans on forbearance, so that you dont have to make any payments, when times are tough. THEY ARE THERE TO HELP...ANSWER THE PHONE, OR CALL THEM BACK!!!
