Microsoft phone call scam

I got 4 in a row. I knew it was a scam but I like to have fun. Said at NO COST they would restart my service. Just login and put the info in they give me. Hmm yeah right. Didn't fall off the turnip wagon yest  MR SCAMMER. You people need to get a real job like oh I dont know what you might do in your country but stay out of mine.

  My parents received a call today from this number, and as any good son would, I decided to do some digging. I called them back from a local landline, pretending to be a distraught Microsoft Windows user. I was instructed to open a run box by using the keyboard shortcut (windows +r) and enter eventvwr, which I did knowing this would pull up my event viewer. Then I was instructed to look for errors, baiting me for their next wanted keystroke executions. In short, they wanted me to install their software which would have allowed remote access, and thereby, relinquishing control of my personal computer allowing them to install infectious software. Trump should nuke them :)

Did you read any of the posts on any of the 4 pages? Try doing that first.

I called the number back just for a laugh.  They kindly explain to you how to find your "windows key" on your keyboard, tell you to hit WIN-R to open the 'run" field so you can type in a string they read to you, "support31.com".  At this point I started cracking up and ask what kind of scam they are running and do people really fall for it, and they hang up.

They called me 7 times in two days, and I don't even have a Windows computer.

Scammers from India. If you want to have fun, or give them a drubbing, use *67 before you dial the number to block your information... These leeches are part of the reason many Americans don't want Indians in our Country... They aren't all like this but many seem to think it's appropriate to try to scam old folks and the [***].

Be careful they are trying to get in your phone. hackers!

Like everyone else on this thread, I also was called, albeit only twice. The thing that made me laugh was that they identified themselves as "Windows Microsoft". They couldn't even get the Brand/Product sequence correct on their Robo-Message.
These calls from robots and the miscreants of the earth will continue, and in all likelihood, intensify.
Thanks to technological advances in communications, any bottom dweller on this planet is able to find a way to invade your privacy in this manner and make their attempts to bilk you in some form or fashion. And oh yes......the DONOTCALL list is a complete joke and the legislation for it has absolutely no enforcement teeth.
Folks.....this is that state of our existence now. Be aware.
By the way, why isn't there a category under "Call Type" called "Suspected Scam" (at least)?

Well done, sir! I'll do the same thing shortly. Of course, what I'd really like to do is find these scammers and dole out the appropriate punishment, since the DONOTCALL list is such a paper tiger.

It's complete garbage. And don't believe that this will let up any time soon. Expect it for as long as these scammers go unpunished. Just take note of the various approaches these scammers take and file it away in your mind. You'll come to recognize the absurdity of these kinds of calls in the future. The best thing to do for your own sanity is accept that this is (unfortunately) the way of the world now, thanks to technology.......Stay calm, smile, and just marvel at the number of ways these thugs are trying to get to you!  :-)  And above all, give them absolutely NO information of any kind!

Automated call saying they're Microsoft, same as everyone else here. It's a scam, but I just wanted to add: the people who thought they were so smart (not to mention political and hateful) with calling back are so incredibly dumb. You guys are obviously not caught up with the latest scams. Do not call back. Just block it and move on.

I received same message and call today and advised to call 1-800-667-6915 to restore "Microsoft Services" - the number was answered by Eastern Indian-sounding male identifying "Microsoft" and I hung up.    Doubt greatly it's MS and is a scam and I don't pay for MS services either.

Caller identifys you by your web call sign  representing Spectrum cable system- wants various info- I cut him off at this point and called Spectrum Cable to check-  Spectrum does all thier own calling on such matters..
