They called me today, identified by name and organization, And I hung up on them. Don't have time for them or their friends. I pay my city and county taxes to support police, fire, EMTs, etc.

This group will NEVER get a dime from me.  They call all of the time!! They are rude and disrespectful. They have unmitigated gall to try and intimidate you into giving them a donation. NEVER, NEVER!

The caller stated he represented the Tennessee Police Federation. I listened carefully to his voice as he asked for money to buy bullet proof vests (his words) for local police officers who cannot afford to buy them, and remarked that his accent marked him as a native of another state. He became very flustered and claimed that he was not from out of state. I was on my laptop as we spoke and requested that he wait just one moment as I researched the organization he represented, he quickly responded that he would call back at a more convenient time and hung up.I finished the search and found that the address this organization uses, which claims to be a non-profit located at 718 Thompson Ln. in Nashville, is actually a UPS store location.  Do I need to say scam.

I forgot to mention that according to their non-profit paperwork they are actually based in Wheelersburg OH. The latest financial information I could find was for 2012 and showed revenue of $393,760 and total expenses of $387,726 which leaves $6034.

The Tennessee Police Federation is a scam of all scams.  The money goes in the pocket of the caller, a one man operation.

We've gotten many calls from this number, especially this month (September 2014).  We've also gotten them in years passed.  Either I pick it up then hang up or let it ring.  My husband explained to this federation two years ago that we will not donate over the phone.  Yet they persist in calling anyhow.  I don't understand why they continue to call and waste their time and money when we've made it clear that we are absolutely not going to donate.  Do they not communicate with one another?  Does their data bank not have a way to deactivate a prospect's number from their call list when it's a fact they will never donate?

Just received a call from 1-800-617-9693 asking to speak to...(used my 93 year old mother's name).  I told them she was not available and what did they want.  Proceeded to tell me they wanted to thank her for her donation last year.  At this point, I stopped them and said I don't think my mother made a donation last year and that she would not be making one this year either.  I believe they said it was for the police. Anyway in checking with my little mother, it was just as I said, she had not sent anyone any money.  SCAM, SCAM, SCAM!!!

Just called and said he was the Tennessee Police Officers Association looking for donations to buy bullet proof vests. My husband was very polite and said no. He's much kinder than me, I would've told him where to shove his bullet proof vest!

I got a call yesterday from these jerks and didn't answer. They didn't leave a message on my answering machine. Seems like every year around the holidays jerks are calling up wanting to take advantage of the season to hit people up for donations to an organization that you've never heard of! My advice.....DON'T ANSWER YOUR PHONE IF YOU DON'T RECOGNIZE THE NUMBER!!!

I got a call from them 1-14-15. Let my answering machine get it, left no message. After reading above comments, glad I didn't answer. I will report them to donotcall.gov.

Get these call almost every day.  Never answer.

They called two days in a row.  The last call was 5/1/2015, when I asked who was calling he said, John.  He was wanting a donation, I told him I knew it was a scam, it was reported on this site, not to ever call me back.  He hung up.  People like this make me so mad, they're stealing from donors, and from the people the donations are supposed to help.

The same thing happens with me-I wish the hotshot marketing execs who think annoying phone calls generate business knew that I wouldn't have what ever they are selling (or assist whatever they are soliciting for)if it were FREE just because they bug the crap out of me. I am on the Do Not Call List and still get calls and report them to FTC every time I get a call-but those safety nets don't work-I seriously doubt any action is ever taken-if it were this would STOP- just another waste of taxpayer dollars in TN
