This is NOT a reputable company! My bank told me so and they are investigating.

Do NOT give this called any information. My bank said this is fraud and they are investigating. Don't believe any posts that say otherwise. The cons are leaving this information on these posts to fool you. Don't even bother calling the number, just call your bank.

The calls were received from "1-800-830-8574 Card Services" and the message was to call 1-800-622-1361 to verify transactions on a bank account. I called the bank and they didn't recognize the number, said no one from the bank had called about verifying recent transactions, and there was nothing that looked like fraudulent activity on our account.  DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION.  It would be nice if 800notes.com would add phishing to the drop-down list for call types.  Thank you.

I always check numbers I don't know. Found it suspicious and when I saw comments on here was even more so. I called my credit union and was told yes they use a third party to verify these things. I had to get air for my tirecords yesterday and the transaction is being processed by a company in another state for only $1. That threw up a red flag for fraud. So I called the 800-622-1361 number and cleared it up. It is legit and not a scam. Call your bank or credit union first if you want to verify it is them. I was told my card could be shut off by this third party even with calling theme directly.

They called saying they wanted to verify recent transactions on my visa debit card with South State Bank and to call back. They said they were open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and I know my bank is not open at those hours. It was also an automated message, which was unusual.

the number 800-622-1361 left a vague message to return the call. I looked up what is written here and called them. First the lady wanted my number. i asked her to first answer my questions. she was polite and we preceded.  She says that their company verify's transactions for banks. She stated that on the back of the card is should say Star or Falcon on the back (it does). I gave her only my phone number and she validated that i gave my cc to my my church charging a specific amount then a few other small charges to walgreens.  It was the first time i sent my tithe online so i imagine that is what triggered the call.  LEGIT

Got a call from 8008308574 asking me to call this number. They said they were trying to reach Nancy somebody, on behalf of "Police and Fire Department..." I assumed meaning a credit union for such persons. After looking here, I called them and let them know there was no Nancy associated with my number. They gave me the customer service number for the credit union in question and urged me to get in touch with them to let them know this.  It all seemed legit to me. No one asked me for any personal information whatsoever.

Asking for info about a debit card transaction.  Called the bank, and was to it is "fising" and not to return call.  Then my debit card was rejected???

She sounded very professional and asked for the phone number where I received the message and my name.
She asked specifically about my last 5 transactions, 2 of which were large purchases.  This is the second time they have called.  The first time it was for a small amount but the transaction was routed through London, so they were suspicious.

Do not offer any information to this caller. I just talked to my bank and they are having their fraud department try to stop this company.  They are identified as star network,  they already have your  information, they are just confirming it. Change your pasword, scam, faud!

I'm not sure why people are calling this fraud. I had a transaction blocked at the store this evening. A store that I always shop at. A couple of hours later, I received a call from Unknown. I did not answer as usual, and the computer voice message said it was on behalf of my bank and to call 800-622-1361 to verify transactions. Hesitant at first, I did some searching online, and then decided what the hell, I'll give them a call. I spoke to a really nice lady by the name of Brittany (sp?). She asked for my phone number and first name. NOTHING else. And I did not offer any other information. She read off my last three transactions, which included the blocked one. And asked if I made those. I replied yes. And that was that. Star Network and First Data are legit. If I log in to my bank online, the bottom of the page even has a copyright for First Data. There are banks that use third party card issuers and third party online banking facilities. As a precaution, I will call my bank in the morning to confirm. Also, if you will look on the back of the card in question, you will probably see the Star logo, mine has it. Last, after searching online, I ran across a Hometown Federal Credit Union facebook page. They made a post in March 2014 concerning this very number as well as 1-800-327-8622. In which they let their customers know that the number in question was legit. Do your homework people. And if you're still unsure, by all means, call you bank first.

Got two messages on my answering machine. Came from unknown caller, out of area. Caller asked to speak to a  name of a woman ,who does not or ever has lived here. Requested a call back to 800-622-1361 ,to verify transactions of the named woman's debit card, calling from the South State Bank..I returned the call out of concern for the woman they are trying to reach to tell they have wrong number. And got another message from them on my machine ,again,same message as before. Now I fear it's farud or scam and that is why I am reporting it.

I just received a recording on my voicemail, saying this is for Michelle lastname regarding your mastercard with mybankname to verify some purchases. I called back they asked for my first name and the number the message was left on. Thats all the info they asked for. then he listed all the transactions from the day, the amount and the place it was used at. they were all correct. thats all then he said have a nice day. Didnt ask for any other info so if its  a scam i dont see how they would know all my purchases from the day and they didnt ask for card number or anything

I got a call from a 402 area code with a message to call this 800 number back. Even after reading all of the reviews I thought it was still a scam. Too convient for so many people to say it was "legitimate". So I called Redstone FCU. They pulled up the account and to my surprise my debit card had in fact been restricted due to suspicious activity. They informed me that they do work with an outside  motoring company specifically for debit card fraud. She then placed me on hold to talk to their fraud unit and had the restriction removed since it was my purchases. If I get that call again I will actually return the call since I know now that it wasn't a scam....though to be honest, I really thought it was.

Received a voice mail message  to call 8006221361 about charges to my MC/VISA card

Called my bank to verify.  Banker told me to go ahead and call but to not give them any info.  Make them give you all the info.  When I called the # she asked for my phone # and my name then rattled off 4-5 transactions that I verified she said as long as the transactions were good that was all they needed.  Not a scam for me.  I gave them no information they gave me the info I needed to verify

I received two calls from 402-609-5706, left message that told me they were the transaction desk for Fairwinds calling about my Visa and to call them on 800-622-1361 to verify some questionable transactions on my account.

Not a fraud or scam company.  All they want is the phone no. they called in order to verify a suspect transaction.  Agree banks should call you themselves but they are not set up to do this kind of thing so they outsource.
