Claims they are Visa Fraud Prevention and to give me credit card number when I call back.

I checked my with my bank they had named first in their message and there is nothing wrong. I suspect these are criminals trying to get cc numbers off of worried people.

They called me to verify charges on my Visa. I think they tried to call me once before too. They already knew the last four digits to my visa credit card, yet wanted to stress that I have my card number available when I called them back.
I looked at my online balance and all the recent charges didn't look suspicious at all.
    This is definitely a scam.

This was NOT a scam.  It's a Visa fraud check line.  I used my bank check card online, and they left a message on my answering machine asking to verify the transaction.  Before I called back, I checked with my bank.  They reported this line as a contracted service line for Visa fraud protection.

I called this number before I thought that it might be a scam.  Then I panicked thinking that I had given away our cc number.  So I ended up calling Visa and the operator there matched the number I had called with their Visa Fraud Prevention service.  So this is a legit number, not a scam.

This number actually belongs to a legitimate group who call themselves VISA Fraud Prevention Services but they are actually a company called FALCON that works with banks or credit unions to monitor for possible fraud on VISA accounts.  I was not able to verify them through VISA but was able to verify their legitimacy through my credit union.  The difficulty in verification caused a short delay in my ability to stop the fraudulent charges which WERE occurring my account.  When I spoke to them they seemed to be asking for more information than I wanted to give them over the phone until I could verify that they were not phishing so I didn't provide it to them.  Instead, I called my credit union who took care of cancelling my VISA check card and stopping the charges.  Be aware that pending authorized or denied charges will not necessarily show up on your online bank or credit union account activity (as mine did not) and this cannot be used as a criterion for determining if a company is legitimate or not.

I attempted to make an online payment 3-4x this morning that did not go through (I think because of my zip code recently changing). I rec'd a msg to call back. The automated system wants you to put in your card number, but I hit "0" to speak with a live person to ease my concern of fraud. The guy I talked to asked 3 questions to verify small pieces of info. and verified that it was me trying to make the online payments.
I was comfortable in that this company is legitimate.

Computerized male voice saying "this is visa fraud prevention services calling for..." Mentioned my full name, and the name of the bank holding the visa card they're supposedly checking on, and the last 4 digits of that card. Asked me to call back with my full account number. Didn't sound right to me so I emailed my bank customer service rep, and then checked online. I found this same number on this site. Must be a scam.

    This is a legitimate service.
I contacted my Credit Union and explained the situation regarding the automated voice including the CU and the last 4 digits of my card. The CU Rep validated the phone # 800-624-7486 as their Visa Fraud vendor.
I called the # and input my info. Chose option 3 at the end, "Not Sure about the charges" and was transferred to a live person.
He went through the last 7 purchases with the card in detail to confirm there was no fraud.
Again, this is a legitimate service.

Got a call, at first seemed like a scam because they wanted me to enter cc info.  Called back hit zero and got a rep.  Someone in south africa was trying to use my card #.

So much for the security of Golden1 information.

    Hello Everyone,

This number IS legit...I called it as there was someone using my card out of the country.  They informed me of it and let me know that they would put a freeze on my card.  So anyone who thinks that this is a scam is wrong.  Don't be concerned, they are there looking out for you!!!

Not a scam company. This is a legitimate fraud company that verifies only transactions made thru your card. I payed a phone bill online, but the site kept crashing down. I was able to pay it off after several tries. Then the next morning, I got the call from the number, 800-624-7486, which is the Visa Fraud Verification line.  I got thru to a rep instead; he asked for the case number left in a voice message, but I forgot. Then to verify, he asked to confirm my number to which he got correctly. Then for further verification, he wanted to know the address where I live (he knew the name, but wanted the street number for confirmation). After the verification of my identity, he just asked if I made a transaction thru a phone company and that my bank wanted to confirm it the purchase transaction. I told him that I was trying to pay off bill the other day, and that info must be it what he wanted to confirm about for my bank.

No specific info were given except for my phone number and my street address to confirm that I was who I am, which is fine.  However, a follow up should be made to your bank just to be safe.

    Satisfied Skeptic
Not a scam. I just got an android phone and started buying $1 and $2 apps, so I got the call. I was immediately skeptical of the robo-dialer, so I did not provide any information. I found this site instead,... read opinions from both sides, and decided to call them back and see if they were trying to get information from me, or verify information they already had about me. The latter was the case,... after dialing 0 and speaking with an operator, she asked for the phone number they had called me on to look up the record,... information they already had, so I provided it. She then provided me with my city and state, and asked for the zip,... I provided that. Then she read my house number and asked for the street,... well... if she was trying to get information she didn't already have, she was doing a piss poor job of it. After that, she just asked if I had made the 3 purchases in question, which I had. So,... they verified my identity without asking for any information they did not first demonstrate prior knowledge of...

This must be a scam. I called the number on the back of my visa and they checked both my visa debit and my visa credit and found no suspicious activity. ALSO this "visa fraud prevention number" had called with the last 4 digits of my OLD visa debit which had been compromised but long replaced. My bank told me to disregard the message.  And now its just getting annoying that they've called me 5 times already in just this one day alone. The thing is that last 4 digits of any credit card can easily be taken from anywhere, such as receipts that are constantly left behind and improperly discarded

VISA called, it had it's lame automated message - I actually immediately hung up on it just because it sounds identical to a phishing scheme and I'm not comfortable giving out my CC information over the phone to a machine - Seems like anyone could've setup a automated message.

I called the Golden1 - Who said because I had paid a debt in Georgia and made a purchase that came up in Washington, in the same day, they wanted to confirm it.

Easy - I'd just call your bank after getting a call like this.

these are legitimate Visa Fraud Investigators.  I have been called several to times by them and  have always been verifies up front with them.  Do not fear this number, it is legitimate and will keep the bad guys from using your account if suspicious activities show up on your card.

This is a Golden 1 Credit Union fraud prevention number.  It is legitimate.  Call Golden 1 and give them the number; they will verify it for you.  I spoke to the fraud prevention people today and told them they need to provide some information in their automated message because it sounds exactly like a phishing scam.

At no time, however, did they ever ask for my card number, only the case number and identity verification questions (just like the credit union does).  Verified the charges, all is good.
