- injured| 1 replyIt is a legitimate number, but the service is housed in Manila, and there are English language problems. Their customer service was abysmal, calling me for a debit that had been made monthly for 9 months. An incorrect hold was put on my card, and I was not told it was permanent.
- Light1969| 1 replyit is legit... we just got a call from this #. it is our credit union fraud alert.. i called to make sure i talked to a LIVE person... i told him i will not give him any info re my card so he said fine all he needs is my cell (which they already have) he inquired if I've use my card at Chevron i said yes... he said Chevron charged $120 on the card. i only use $56 for gas. he blocked the charges. - notgiven replies to Light1969They put a $125 hold on our debit card every time we get gas, the bank says it's a Visa policy. By the next day the right amount is pending on the account. A few years ago, when there wasn't as much fraud as there is now, they would put a $1 hold on it, then replace that with the right amount. I doubt I've ever put more than $40 in my car when it was running on fumes.
It was on my bank's website:
What this means for you is when you use your Firstchek card to pay at
the pump for gasoline the Visa system will now place a hold on your
account for $125 before the pump will allow you to start filling your tank. - MereThis company, Falcon, is legit. I verified through my credit union before I called back the number left on my voicemail. They flag suspicious transactions and ask that you call back to verify them. The credit union representitive instructed me to call back and verify the transactions that were flagged so that there would be no blocks placed on my card/account.

- AshleyVisa fraud prevention services is a legitimate service provided to cardholders who carry a card carrying the Visa logo. I have called this service and asked how to verify if they are legitimate and was informed to contact my credit union. I did and they did indeed verify that it was a legitimate service that works hand in hand with banks to monitor my transactions for any fraudulent activity. I understand that many other cardholders will be wary about giving out detailed information like a card number or social security number through their automated system, as I did. But when I called back I was informed that the information is only asked in order to help their live representatives find the account ( or case) easier. It is NOT necessary to provide either of these pieces of information through the automated system if you still do not feel comfortable doing so. Usually a representative can look up your case using the phone number that the message was left at. Then they asked me two partial pieces of information (ZIP code and house number) and proceeded to review the transactions with me. There was no fraud so they status-ed my account accordingly and that was that.
- AmandaThere is a lot of confusion about gas per-authorizations. This is not a policy that Visa carries out but rather the gas stations. Whenever you swipe a card at the gas pump that gas station will run a per-authorization anywhere from 1 to 500 dollars. Basically what this is is a hold on those funds to make sure the account is active and does have funds to support the purchase of gas, and then after 3 days the amount drops off and shows the actual amount that you spent on gas. The best way to avoid these is to pay for your gas inside.

- Hike replies to bThis is real. Call your bank to make sure. Thanks for all the verified comments.
- Russellthis is a bull [***] way to do "legitimate" business--- (1) you're always told not to give out such info over the phone to just anyone calling you--- because your banking institution already has this info... makes the whole phone call look and feel like a phishing scheme to actually defraud you. I've been getting this phone call all weekend, and now my card has been declined and I just checked my account-- and sure enough there's 3 - 125.00 pending charges to facebook.com*c that are totally fraudulent ...and a small 9.00 charge to something else....
- HK1005Keeps calling my cell. My bank does not have my cell #. I don't have a Golden One Credit Card.
Never, ever, ever, give out personal information to anybody who calls like this, no matter how many times it says on websites that the call is legitimate.
Call your bank directly using the numbers on your card! Anybody can write here that it's legitimate, even the people who want your info. Be smart.- Caller: Definitely Phishers
- Craig replies to bThis is a legitimate call. They stopped a fraudulent transaction and it was declined. Do not fear calling them.
- Dennis replies to Olde but WiseI received several messages from (800) 624-7486 that didn't contain any specific information about the purpose of the call. Did a search and found this board. Yup, it's legitimate. I bought some cigars late last night online, and I guess it triggered an alert. If you've ever had your identity stolen (I did last year), it's well worth following up on things like this. Having your identity stolen is a NIGHTMARE.
- MonetReceived 3 calls today from this number, there is too much contradictory posts saying it's legit vs not. Hence I will personally will not call back, I will keep an eye on all my credit cards and bank charges. One can never know.
- amyI received 2 calls from this number today, they left no voicemail and kept calling, I didnt answer, I called back and it said it was golden 1 online fraud prevention. and that if i was not left a code by voicemail to then enter my credit card number. I think not!! SCAM! do not give out your cc info over the phone, i confirmed with golden 1 that if there was any fraud on your acct they would call you and speak with you, it would not be an automated call and they would not ask for yor info over the phone.

- SacramentoIts the Golden One Credit Union Fraud Protection Dept. for YOUR Visa Debit card. I bought something online yesterday and entered the number incorrectly, so the charge Declined. Then I entered the number correctly and the charge went through.
Golden One's automated system called me and advised me, based on my phone number...the card ending in XXX.....has charges that they need me to verify. The automated system advised me of the date, time and amount of the declined charge, then it told me the date, time and amount of the approved charge. Then the system asked me if I recognized the charge. I wanted to speak to a live person, so I said "I don't know"...and a live person came on the line.
She repeated what the automated system said but also told me the name of the merchant. I told her I recognized the charge and she thanked me and said the hold was taken off the card and I can use it as normal.

- CandyGot a message from this number claiming that they were Golden 1 fraud prevention. They used my name and left the last four digits of a debit/visa card (which wasn't mine). I found it very suspicious that they didn't have the correct card number. When I called back, I got an individual with a very think accent and very hard to understand. She didn't seem to know what she was talking about, seemed very confused. I told that they called me but didn't have the correct number. She told me that I should call the main line. I asked why was I told to call this number then. She kept putting me on hold and repeating the incorrect four digits. Then she wanted me to give her the digits that I have. I replied that I wasn't going to give out any information over the phone. This is all very suspicious.
