Call from 800-669-8465 that claims to be from Sears Credit Card department and would like to check on unauthorized charges.  I can't responed in any case as I destroyed the card and can't give them a number.  May be legitimate, I don't know.

Phone # 800-669-8465 is legit.   Recieved letter in mail stating my account was compromised and to call this #.   Letter looked suspicious so I called the customer service # on my sears card instead of the one in the letter.  Sears confirmed there was a database compromise and they would issue me a new card.

In fact, the number on letter was only off the last 2 digits from the number on the card.

I, too, received the letter with the number 800-669-8465, saying my Sears acct had had "activity" that they would like to confirm... It looks pretty fake. I'll call Sears tomorrow.

I talked with my Father-n-law who also rec'd a letter with this number listed as a call back. He called and spoke with a gentleman, he said it sounded legit. Made me nervous as I heard of the news, never know who is scamming the elderly. Anyways; I am relieved to read that he was not scammed that this is legit. Thank you all for responding.

It is a good number.  Had not used my card in a long time and made an on-line purchase.  Received a letter from Sears inquiring if the amount was authorized and to call 800-669-8465 anytime 24/7.  Operator had all my information concerning the purchase and my account information without me having too do any  prompting.  FYI: Customer Service number is: 800-669-8488.

I also recieved a call from this number claiming to be Sears.  I called Sears Credit Card Services and this is not one of thier numbers.  I will be reporting this to the police dept.  For you information you can report this online with your local police department.

We just received one of these calls, I called the number on Sears website and they had no record of activity on my account like the phone call stated  THIS NUMBER IS A FRAUD and is PHISHING for your account info!  DO NOT CALL!

I received a call from this company also and they told me there was someone who tried to set up a credit account using my information and they had tried to make a purchase the same day with my account.  This simply didn't make sense. I've never had a Sears Mastercard and when I called the number back the first thing they asked was to look up my account using my Social Security number.  I did NOT give my SS# saying if they truly had an account of mine they could look it up by my phone number.  Of course, they could not find an account using my telephone number.  If you receive a call from this number, beware and do not give out any of your information.

I got a call last night, new my name and said to call 800-669-8465 and gave me a four digit reference number.  I called and it was a recording asking for my 16 digit account number.  Hung up and will call customer service.    My question is how can it be legit a few years ago and now it is not....

I was wrong when I thought it was a fraud(read my post above on 22 Jun 2013).  It actually was Sears.  We found out a week later that my wife's identity had been stolen and someone had opened a Sears card in her name, and this call was trying to verify the account.  I called Sears and asked about fraud on our existing joint account which is why they had no record of fraud.

I received a call from this number on 9/12/2013.  I called the number on the back of my Sears card, and discovered that the real Sears Credit Card did NOT call me.   Call the number on the back of your card, not the number they give you over the phone.

The telephone is a valid for Sears' fraud department. If you call the telephone number on the back of your Sears credit card, that telephone number is for Citi who manages Sears credit card.  I did received a call from this telephone and call the telephone number on the back of my Sears credit card and was transferred to Sears' fraud department.  They asked me all my security questions and I asked if 800-669-8465 is one of there telephone numbers?  The rep confirmed that 800-669-8465 is one of their telephone numbers.  As always be careful about giving out info from telephone numbers that seem strange related to banking or credit cards and first start with the telephone number on back of your credit card or the telephone number listed on the official website.

This is a real number to their fraud number.  I called the card company using the number I found online, and they confirmed that I was, actually, showing suspicious activity.  I didn't even know I still had a Sears card - I'd forgotten I opened an account years ago.  Someone stole my social security number and tried to open an account.

I received a call from another number, 423-467-6460 asking me to call 1-800-669-8465.  That number asked for my account number which I did not give as I was not sure if it was legit.   I did have a reference number that was left on my vm which I did give.   It turned out that Sears was verifying some smaller charges on my account to make sure they are valid and not fraudulent which sometimes happens when someone gets the card.  The charges were correct and the a/c was taken off hold after that.

Not a legit number at all.  i am an employee of Sears and a costumer who never had a Sears card brought a letter in and it didn't look right at all. Don't give them any info.

Why would u get a letter if u aren't a sears card member

Fraudulent voicemail claiming to be Sears Fraud Department requesting a return call to (800) 669-8465. The call originated from Caller ID "*HG Agent 13151" with a number of 210-677-1346. Provided a 4-digit confirmation code. Logging into Sears account showed no fraud notices. Initiated a chat with Sears customer service and no activity had been received by their fraud department.

I got called today and I called the # on my card and I got my ID stolen and they tried to change my address. Card cancelled.
