called my daughter's cell phone number with a voice message for my husband, saying Sears Fraud Department calling about suspicious activity on card, gave four digit reference number to call back with and said to have account number available.  Account just opened a week ago at Sears and we haven't even received the card yet.  When we called the number they gave, 800-669-8465, , the woman said they couldn't look up the account with just the reference number, they needed the account number, which we couldn't give as we haven't received a Sears card yet, so they wanted us to give his date of birth.  We said no and hung up.

I also got a phone call from this number and when I called back I gave the person my ref # they never asked me for any personal information they had all my card information and said they were checking on a purchase that was  made to the UK.  I made that purchase but glad the called to see if I did.. this is a legit number..

received this number from citi  after getting a call about a crdit card application I did not submit.  I called Citi direct via looking up regular customer service number on the internet.  after waiting around I did get confirmation thaqt 866-771-3354 is a valif identity theft number for them.  So its an OK number to call - but do your homework.

This is a legitimate phone number. I work for Sears through citi and I am in the fraud dept. 8006698465 is the direct phone number to the fraud dept. The number on the back of your card will get you to customer service and then they just transfer you over to the fraud early warning dept. Customer service reps don't have all the entitlements we have so they can't see any details on fraud activity.

Received voicemail at my home # asking for my mother (her full name w/middle initial) who does not live with me.  Identified themselves as the Sears Credit Fraud Dept. and had a four-digit reference #.  I returned the call and wondered how they got my phone # for her account.  They wanted her account # (which I do not have, and would not give out that info even if I did know her Sears acc't. #) and they were very insistent about getting additional information about her (her phone #, her age, her address.)  If they were legit, they should already have all that info.
She called the following day to cancel/change her card # (turns out to be a Sears MasterCard that is a Debit Card) and to report the call that someone from Sears had left for me.  Turns out someone had also called my sister claiming the same info was needed, but with a different 1-800 phone # and a different reference #.  Then we found out that two days after this, that someone was trying to use her card (with the old number) to purchase a toilet.  I think all these calls are scam artists trying to get info in order to use credit and debit cards.  If you call Sears directly, they have a totally different phone # for reporting credit fraud.

I am having the same problem right now!  They are asking for too much personal information when all i want them to do is cancel the card because i have several unauthorized purchases in a state where I have never visited!

Got a message on my v-mail call1-800-669-8465 or the number on the back of my card. I called number on card. Turns out they said someone tried to do a $1900 transfer against my card. They gave a name of Briana Katlyn Tevrick. Perhaps this person stole my bill, or cash advance checks from my mail box.
I think the number is legit.

Got a call today from this number, the message was next to impossible to understand. Obviously it is not Sears as they are no more. At the end they said that a temporary hold had been placed on my account until they could speak with me. My only account is my checking/debit, which I just checked and is fine. I also have two investment accounts and checked, neither of those are on hold either. . . . So perhaps this was legit (Sears) at one time, but it absolutely screams of SCAM today.

Received a call on my personal #, they left a message saying something about some fraud on my account and call this number and mention this reference number… called it back from my work #. The guy asks for my sears card #, I said I don’t have a sears account, I’ve never had a sears account. He says ohhh okay - give me your social security # and I can check it that way. I said pfft no. I’m not giving you my social, or my birthday. I’m contacting my attorney - w what is your first and last name…went thru the whole game. That’s how they get you. I have an account with credit karma and check it regularly. You can even see closed accounts, and I’ve never had a sears card.
