Got a call on answering machine from "Harold Oliver" at Omni Financial to 'follow-up on a personal business matter'.  Caller ID said number was 772-907-9032 and he left 800-707-8065 extension 9030 as the call back number. I've never talked with these Bozos before and don't plan to. I am hoping they go away -- i NEVER EVER answer calls from 1-800 numbers and if it is a legitimate &/or important call they will leave a detailed message, and not this cryptic BS.

This is Omni Financial they have two locations, one in Broomfield, CO and one in Vero Beach, FL.  I went to the trouble to research all these types of companies.  Names, addresses, google research, BBB research, and in some cases supreme court research.  Thousands of people hire these companies every month.  I tried to be as impartial as I could, “just the facts.”  Some of them have multiple locations, and some of them have multiple names in the same location.  14 Linked reviews for all the companies are at the bottom of the article.

i received a messahe from a Mr Wesley telling me he had great news for me and i had to call back by 2pm EST. no mention of the company, no mention of what the great new might be, they really think people will fall for that sort of ruse? I had already assumed it was a tax lawyer bottom feeder, what they do not seem to know is that the IRS are not that difficult to deal with yourself
started out quite polite but seemed to get short tempered as he left the number and extension. Maybe they are paid on a per call basis too
I too have been i civil court and seen the people they pay $8.00 an hour to scour public records

Former Omni Employee replies to acnyc
As a former Omni employee I can tell you that the company has been around for a long time, how?  I have no idea.  You will never pay the fee you were originally quoted and it will be tripled if not more by the time you are done.  Their job is to rewrite the client for more money.  More associates have let deadlines lapse on these clients who put their faith and money in this firm only to be levied and to be in more financial strain than they were when they started.  It is absolutely ridiculous to think that help is on the way as they will tell you when you hire this firm. Being under federal investigation is surely not helping their business at all but they did get away with it for quite some time.  Please beware unless you have a lot of time and money to flush down the toilet!!!

I was contactd by Omni Tax Services after a tax lein appeared.  Alex--purely a salesman I later realized--called me and offered his tax attorneys and tax professionals to assist me in lowering my tax liabilities.  I was in the middle of an Offer and Compromise and had been deluged with offers by now from "tax companies".  Alex said that "his" company would have the wage garnishments released within 72 hours and they would proceed with the Offer and Compromise and the remainder of the paperwork whereby I would owe less than the amount the IRS requested.  I already had an IRS tax advocate who had been assisting me---and because of my circumstances---was going to owe less anyway.

Because he was getting the garnishments released (I think he realized that I was a little skeptical), he stated that the initial $2000 e-check could be post dated.  A later $2000 e-check was to finalize the transaction.  The entire procedure was to take 90 days.  This first check would be cashed after the garnishment was released.  Well, that was over two months ago and the garnishments are still coming out of my paycheck and also my husband's Social Security---for several hundred per paycheck.  Not only has the company tried to cash the first check, but also the second  check---without a single release of garnishment or any other progress.

I was then told that I had a "team" that was going to talk to the IRS agent who is responsible for levying my checking account and would be able to retreive that amount along with the release of garnishments.  They have now been paid $2000 and want more!!!

In conclusion, I would RUN away from these people who lie and do not seem to care about the consequences.  I have decided to appeal to the Attorney General and file every form to every person that willl be able to help put these people out of business.  I have since learned of their tactics and their record with the BBB.  They are truly scam artists and should be avoided at all costs.

I live in the same town Omni is located. Know some people who work for this worthless company. It is a call center sweat shop.  No tax specialist, no lawyers.  Most a younger kids following a printed script.  Lots of yelling, screamin, and threats not heard over the phone.  They will pull you in and drain you of every cent you were promised they would save you..  You want to stay as far away from this group as you can..  They are simply rip off artist and Omni is a total scam.

Two calls, second was by Tim "Hard Sell we aren't a telemarketer as we are trying to help people" Murphy. Claim FCC rules don't apply to them. Denied selling. They don't check DNC list before calling.

First call came up using a spoofed local #.

Run, don't walk, away from these scammers.

I can't believe I worked for such a ruthless unethical company. They were being investigated by the Attirney Generals office. The outcome wad that they are not allowed to charge clients by each task they do anymore. E.g. They charge a client 40 dollars to write a one page letter that is already a template  you just have to put there name and address on letter. Now the Attorney General stated they have to charge by time it takes to complete the task. Well this will cost them skit if list revenue. So they decided to make all associates to fluff the time so if it only takes 5 minutes to type the letter to client they make you charge the client for 25 minutes. Stay away from this boiler room.

When companies such as this call you for an interview, do your research online!  I did and was called for an interview and went there just to see for myself and it was WORSE than what I read here.  Your first clue should have been the nasty building they are in, the people coming in and out of that "sales room" and their appearance and they have called me 2x the past year, not even the same person from a year ago!  High turnover, appears to be a scam because it IS a scam.  Do what you can as a past employee to report them to whoever will listen.  And don't be fooled by ads that are run by Manpower, either on CareerBuilder - they are aligning with these people on CareerBuilder and not even calling you they just forward your resume to Omni.  That is not how employment agencies are supposed to operate.  Corporate Manpower has wisened up and taken the ad off, CareerBuilder needs to wisen up and take it off their site.

anyc...they do start their people out in training at $8. hr but after a short traing time they switch them to commission so they are just trying to get leads. I worked the sales floor for a short time and I am no salesman so when people said they weren't interested I didn't push it but I then worked in the admin. offices and they are very crooked. They don't even treat their employees right and have a LARGE employee turnover.

Got a message from these people regarding a "state tax matter". About five years ago when I lived in another state, I didn't file a state tax return. The state finally contacted me about a month ago about not filing a return for the 2010 tax year. It was purely a forgetful oversight by me. The state only contacted me about not filing a return, not a lien or threat of collection. As luck would have it, a co-worker is married to a tax attorney and she looked at my letter and told me all I needed to do was file a return. I dug up my old W-2s, etc. and filled out a return. The state actually owes me a refund of $137.26! I'm sure I will be hit with a penalty for not filing the return on time, which is fine with me because I'm the one who screwed up. I mailed the return two weeks ago and I'm awaiting a response from the state to see if I owe more than the refund in penalties, or hopefully, get a small check.

Anyway, I called Omni back to speak with Jennifer. If she is representative of what the rest of the company is like, they are definitely a bunch of fear mongering ambulance chasers. Basically, she tried to scare me into using them to "represent" me in this serious matter to prevent the state from seizing all my property, assets, birthday, children, etc.

If you have a tax problem, find a reputable tax lawyer and stay away from companies like Omni Financial. They MIGHT be able to do something, but trust me, they will charge you MANY TIMES more than what an actual tax lawyer would. Also, from what I've heard from friends and coworkers who've had problems with the IRS, for most of us in most cases, just dealing with the IRS or state tax offices will probably be cheaper than using a company like Omni. These people prey on people's fear of tax collectors. They paint the worst possible picture to scare the hell out of you, then promise to make the bad stuff go away and charge you outrageous fees to do so. Like I said, I didn't owe the state a dime, but I didn't file a return for the 2010 year. Omni Financial acted like I'd been evading taxes for the last 20 years and I was going to end up in jail!
