- TENGot a message left to call back Eline? and they asked for my husband's brother who lives 3 states away. Don't know how they affliated that one. So I am concerned where they got their information. I did not call them back since I know to go directly to the internet and come to places like this to check up on it. I did file a complaint with the do not call list. I really hate stuff like this. I hope they won't call back but if they do I will tell them I will sue. I work for an attorney so it won't be that hard for me.
- caliThey call and ask for someone I ask who it is and what about they say oh this is (so and so) and "well it's personal" and then give me the same number they have been giving me for ever. but it's never the same.

- pbWe have recevied two calls in the last 2 days from this number claiming my husband owes a debt from 1996. The 2nd call came today and the caller identified herself as Emily from Kansas asking for my husband and would not give any more info when I asked what company she was calling from. When calling back the number it connects to American Temperature Company. This appears to be a scam.

- sunflr replies to crusader for fraud on elderly and handic| 3 repliesI think this company is on the up-and-up...
They may have bought debt, but as collectors, they have to find the people who owe the money so they can get reimbursed.
I received mail from this company. They were very discrete in their packaging.
I called them back to set up a payment plan. The man was very respectful. They never called my house. They never called my cell. They never called my work to harass.
The amount of money they requested was correct and legitimate.
I hope I do not find out they are scamming me. I am typically on top of these types of people.
sunflr
PS They did not call me. I called them. - collectors-r-criminals replies to sunflrYou are (1) extraordinarily stupid or (2) one of the fine people who are involved in this criminal enterprise. I vote for (2). Real dedication working on Saturday what's wrong isn't the scam doing enough on the phone?
- MeCalled both my daughters. Had both home numbers and both cell numbers. Don't know how they got the numbers. Left messages on all phones saying they were trying to reach me. "If this is not "me" then please don't listen any further"....then went on to say they were trying to collect a debt! Illegal to do! I wonder who else they've called? It's also illegal to try and collect a debt when they can't tell me when I made the debt or give me any details of the debt. These people are bottom feeders. They get nasty if you ask them any questions and tell you the burden of proof lies with you!!!!! Then have the gall to tell you to "bone up" on the law!

Two tricks:
1) Inform the caller that you are conducting a legal investigation & you are recording this call{Legal in CT}.
They usually hang up because they have something to hide or they get nervous.
2) I have been giving an alias name. I inform the caller that there was no one ever at this number and they hang up.
Either way you look at this, this is a scam.

- DebbieI checked out the number on here before I called them back. I had an idea what it was about. The first person I talked with was "Jermaine." He was rude, obnoxious and hateful. He yelled at me. Frequently stated, " You've refused to pay. You've refused to pay. You've refused to pay."
I stated I'd not received a letter from them regarding the debt I owed. He was once again rude, and when I asked about having a letter sent to me repeated stated, "You've refused to pay in the past and I'm going to put down that you are refusing to pay now."
I asked to talk with a supervisor. Jermaine refused to allow me to do so. He said , "i can give you payment options or put you down as refusing to pay. Why won't you pay. You're a deadbeat." He kept threatening to hang up on me and mark me down as "refusing to pay."
I asked for the options, and he told them to me. He then wanted me to make a decision. I told him I needed to discuss this, and think it over. He said, "I'll mark you down as refusing to pay."
I had him make sure they had the right address, they didn't.
Once again I asked to speak to a supervisor, he refused. He said he was going to mark me down as refusing to pay... I told him to do what he wanted. I hung up.
I immediately called back, and talked with "ASHLEY" who was very helpful and kind. I told her about "Jermaine." She apologized for his behavior and said she would mark it down. I decided on the 12 month payments and we got it set up for that.
My question is why would anyone (Jermaine) talk with a customer the way he did if they were being recorded?
I do plan to mail a letter to the company later today and tell them what happened. Jermain was rude, and no one deserves to be badgered like he did me.- Caller: Portfolio Recovery

- ab03608called me at 815pm and was very rude. asked for me by a name I haven't used in 10 years. I wouldnt confirm the name and asked who was calling. The woman said Natalie and then demanded to know if I was known by the former name. I told her I didn't know who she was. She again said Natalie. I told her I didn't know a Natalie and she get nasty saying she wasn't going to give me any information unless I told her who I was. I told her she called me and I wasn't giving her any information unless she told me who she was or why she was calling. She said if I won't tell her who I am, there is no point in us talking. I can't believe the nerve of some of these people!

Also, it's "advise", you dolt. - JessicaI got a call from this number, and because I am a minor and didn't recognize the number, I didn't answer, but I don't want them to call again.
- KSThey kept leaving a partially incoherent voicemail about suspension of social security. They didn't ask for anyone by name, just threatening loss of benefits if you don't call back. Googled the # and saw this thread. So, if you dial *60 on your landline, you can block up to 6 phone numbers. Just follow the prompts. Guess who just got added to our list? Stupid scammer.
