I agree. Do not call back.  There was a warning on my local news about such a scam. I started getting calls from 800-728-7518 to my cell phone going on a month now. The reviewers who called the number back have yet to reach a live person.  Most reviewers said their calls got disconnected or dropped. In my opinion if it was a collection agency, there would be more reviews stating such.

I blocked the number after the 3rd call in 1 week.  Do not call the number back.  There is a scam going around where a number gets redirected to another country when called back and you get stuck with long distance charges on your cellphone bill.

New phone with limited minutes to be used as an emergency number as I am a bit old and paralyzed.  They call, one ring and then done. Yes I am on the no call list, lol.

They are called ERC and are a collection agency or a scam. Why would a collection agency try to collect from someone with out telling them for whom  they are collecting? I do not owe anyone. Suspicious. Anyways check with your carrier about blocking options. I have Verizon and got a free 3 month trial of unlimited blocking. Normally they offer 5 numbers blocked for free, then $5.00 for every additional number blocked. If I continue with the service after 3 months I will have to pay $5/month. It just may be worth it.

Don, your caller was most likely from the "Enhanced Recovery Company". Formerly the "Enhanced Recovery Corp." They've been back sliding for years. For reasons that you are now aware of! They were based out of Jacksonville, FL. I don't know if they still are, it doesn't matter. They are well known to be "bottom-feeders Extraordinaire!". It wouldn't surprise me if they're out-sourcing to India. If they're not, it's likely that your caller was calling from his kitchen table or his mothers basement. They are that low!
If you have a smart phone, get a call block app. I can recommend Call Control (under $10) & Mr. Number (free). A home phone can use a call blocker. Many are available at Amazon for well under $75 that can block over 1000 #s and entire area codes as well. If you're using a cell phone that is of the "budget" variety, consider moving to an Android type. There are many available at a low-cost. An expensive data plan is not necessary, even if you're using Verizon! Just kidding....

It's crazy how these people can keep trolling on your phone.

This number started calling the day after I spoke with a company in India, iYogi, they use advertising tactics that place their number so you think you are calling your computer security software company.  They immediately ask for your phone number and email, then take remote control of your computer to "fix your problem".  They run a diagnostics on the computer showing 116 Registry errors, then try to sale you service.  Once I realized they were not my company, I got off the phone and deleted their downloaded software.  Bad reputation on internet, except bbb who gives them A+ rating even though they are not in this country and are ineligible for accredidation, the address on their report is a Starbucks in NYC.  I believe they sale your information, or use themselves for unethical purposes.

Kept getting calls from this number. They never leave messages. I answered the call today. They asked for my son. They wouldn't identify themselves only that they wanted to talk to him and asked for his number. Of course I said no and they hung up. Again not identifying themselves.

I did call back and got a message saying that the call was being recorded and it was a company called ERC. I don't know who they are and I don't have anything in collections so I hung up. When they call me and I answer the call disconnects before I even say hello.

Phone rings once hangs up. Calls a few times a week. Its getting on  my nerves.

Under the FDCPA guidelines they cannot release any information until they clearly know whom they are speaking to on the phone. I get calls everyday about my girlfriend's grandson's debts. He has never had (according to him) or done business with at&t, and I use a Google voice#... so not even my g/f has my cell #.

Only on landlines.  NOT ON CELLULAR.

No offense... but you are a complete whacjo. The police have no jurisdiction over a collection agency calling your cell phone.
