Firstsource is a COLLECTION AGENCY IN DISGUISE - CWG40 replies to epp| 1 replyLet's not name-call please.
Most hospitals have personnel that go around and try to work with patients who are financially unable to pay their bills. They will often sign the person up for state aid in the form of medicaid or similar programs. My brother who was basically destitute had to go to hospital and they signed him up for SSI as disabled (I believe) which got him on SS a little earlier than the 62 year age requirement. They put him on medicaid.
So. No need for intermediaries. - I don't know replies to smgI found this thread while trying to determine what MedAssist is and what they do. I have found no conclusive evidence here, although I have read some very polarized opinions. None of the correspondence I got from them asked me to rescind my HIPAA rights, although they have asked for bank account and debt related info. This could be completely valid and well-intentioned, I just have a hard time trusting it. I will have to continue research before I continue with their paperwork.
- john replies to eppYour comment is 100 percent correct! These so called people are nothing but a debt collection agency in the guise of a patient advocate.
Another example of such a company would be called advanced patient advocacy.
I was sent a letter by med assist that was basically a power of attorney form they wanted me to sign.
As you can expect it went in the trash! - john replies to CWG40I find it strange this same photo and basically same message is also on the 800 notes about advanced patient advocacy.
Makes me thing its just someone going board to board trying to keep people thinking these are patient advocates. - johnThis so called company called med assist is nothing but a debt collection agency in the guise of a patient advocate.

Truth be known they are probably the same parasites with 2 different names.

Everyone read for yourself ! - theyareindestinnowWow, so I was recently at the hospital in the Destin, FL area and was visited by one of these so called 'paitent reps' Highly unprofessional in the way she was dressed for it being work and very rude and condescending to say the least. I was in severe pain and she wanted me to sign all these documents.... Maybe crazy but I think they hire to distract people to get them to sign stuff... thankfully my brother was with me and got her out before I did something I will regret... stay away from this bunch!

- Still not sure| 1 replyI'm here for my father who's been in ICU for 16 days and now general for about 4. He doesn't have insurance and we know we're going to have a VERY high bill. I've been doing research on this company and they tell me this is for financial help. They will do what they can to lower bills etc etc.... they've been coming more and more lately I noticed too. The case manager came in today to ask me why I haven't applied and said it's going to help us with our bills.

- BigA replies to Still not sureMedassist will help you out of every penny you have. It is a collection agency run out of New York and India. All the information you need is in this thread. You do not need an outside company to fill out the forms for medical assistance.

Once there was a women about health insurance I told her I wasn't interested. I get 20-30 calls a day. Block each time but comes again with a different phone number.
