- Butterfly replies to ME| 1 replyNot all of these calls are legit. Some have brought old debts that are out dated and try to get people to pay them, but the money doesn't go to the company that the bills was for because they have been written off . The keep the only for themselves. All calls like this need checked out and if someone asks for your information before you know what they want you are just plan stupid to give it outr.

- Carla GermanyDebt collectors, so they say. They won't tell you what company they work for. They call several times a day from the 1-800-754-1913 as well as 501-975-3303 but never leave a message when they reach your voicemail. I've tried everything to block these guys from Mr Number to Truecaller, didn't work, not even my phone settings worked. But.....i've since downloaded Blacklist Plus from the google play store, works amazing. I have every number not saved in my contacts set to go straight to voicemail. No more multiple daily annoyances for me!!! Except of course, cleaning out my voicemail. Have a great day everyone!

- Annoyed DaughterI was contacted by a woman asking for my dad. My dad and I have never had the same cell number, nor have the numbers ever been similar enough to just be a mistyping. Somehow this company found my cell phone number was connected to my dad's and called me. The woman would not identify herself or her company which I have found from other posts, is illegal.

- Leslie in Somerset| 1 replyI got a call from this company, First Collection Services 606-393-6069. The lady who called seemed nervous, wanted to verify my address, etc., and said she had to verify my identity before telling me what company was calling. Told her I would not verify anything without at least knowing the name of the company, and she proceeded to give me 800 number to call (800-754-1913). When I called, the company identified itself and put me through to a customer service agent, who refused to tell me what bill I owed unless I first verified myself with SSN and DOB. When I refused to give my SSN and DOB, I was told to have a good day and she hung up.
I should not have to ask for the company name who is calling me, and I should not have to give my personal details over the phone before learning what debt I allegedly owe. Whatever happened to paper notices, dun letters, etc.?- Caller: First Collection Services

- BigA replies to Leslie in SomersetThey are still required and now that they have spoken with you they must send out that dunning letter.
It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Since CWG40 has provided the name and address you could also do this:
You will need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt) (this will be the best money that you have ever invested). Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it. Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter. You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to. Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment. If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it. Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front): http://www.consumeradvocates.org/
http://www.consumeradvocates.org/find-an-atto ... tates_value=All
First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

I asked who the original creditor was, who she was collecting for? Again she would not tell me. I told her that I do not have any unpaid debts and I hung up.
