Do you really expect someone who posted here in 2007, 11 years ago to suddenly stop back because they think someone has asked them a question?

They repeatedly call my cell phone and leave messages. Spoken several times to a fast talking bully who says he is a lawyer.  They have an incorrect address for me and they claim I have an outstanding debt with Wachovia / Wells Fargo.  I have contacted the Fraud Dept. of Wells Fargo who bought out Wachovia in 2008 and according to them I have NEVER had any association with them. SCAM

Stop calling unless you have legal reason and then don't call. These are purely harassment calls to get information.

these guys (portfolio recovery) are one shade away from being loan sharks. but with a twist. instead loaning you their own money, they buy old and statue barred debt from others for 10 to 20 cents on a dollar and then do whatever ( and I mean whatever) it takes to collect somewhere around 40 to 50 cents on a dollar. they only pay their people if they collect, and bonus if they collect big. so the person on the phone has no incentive to listen to your explanation of any kind. the only reason they're still open is because their lawyers are smarter the Feds. So if you want to get rid of them, contact your state's district attorney's office.

    Hard Times
Someone called from a # that I believed was social security, their # is very similar to this # I am disabled I get social security disability that I paid into benefits from working since I was 16yrs old. They start asking me if such & such is my name & I am associated with such & such an address, BEFORE they even mention WHO they are, then they say this is a debt collector this call may be recorded, & my mind goes blank, I go instantly to that place where it’s hard to come back from, where I don’t want to do nothing, I shut completely down! It’s all a charade until that moment, BAD THINGS HAPPEN IN PEOPLES LIVES, some turn to drugs, others turn inside their own minds, WE ALL HAVE DEMONS!! See I do owe money I owe about $3,000.00 maybe & I was doing real good paying everything on time, had cards in my bill binder that I never even called & activated, but was saving for a rainy day just in case. Then one day my step grandson called needing school clothes & I opened one of those accts & I took & bought him the nicest school clothes & shoes ever & I was so proud & so was he! IT FELT GOOD!!! REAL GOOD!! But you see before I could make the 1st payment on the acct my life exploded, my boyfriend of 25yrs got sent to prison for basically the result of a meth addiction problem, my step grandsons other Gma who was my best friend got custody of him & got mad at me bc I bought him $20 worth of ride tickets to the county fair & she blew up on me tried to beat me up & yanked me around by my hair, I’m disabled in part by degenerative disc disease she put me in bed for a week from the yanking on my neck which I had surgically fused  THEN SHE CUT OFF ALL CONTACT BETWEEN ME & my grandson & I felt like I’d lost ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING THAT MATTERED TO ME. I TOTALLY GAVE UP, I laid in bed & cried for weeks & weeks, I still cry now bc she moved him to another state, in a year I have seen him 2 maybe 3 times, THAT BOY IS MY WORLD!! I started playing games on my cell phone to escape reality & spent a lot of money on them that I should have paid towards bills! I KNOW I WAS WRONG BUT I WAS DYING INSIDE!! Still am in many ways!! Now I am so far behind there’s no way I can pay to get caught up, my credit is total [***], it’s beyond poor. & I know I owe but my mind just won’t letme get past all this hurt & woman up, you all may think this is ridiculously stupid, but you’re not in my shoes, your heart has not been ripped out & crushed beyond the greatest hurt you can ever imagine! I would die for that boy & instead she made him dead to me & I can’t accept it. I just can’t make it right & I know I owe I KNOW THIS, but I have no way to pay & make this right & all it does is take open the wounds like they’re fresh again. Which happens enough every time I picture his sweet face! We had him for the 1st 4yrs of his life we gave him everything we could to make his life better & I’d do it all again even knowing the pain & torture I’d suffer in the end bc he was worth the love & memories I hold so dearly!! So please u derstamd that things happen that people can’t help sometimes & harassing them about it doesn’t help! Especially when the debt can be written off & move along. Not everybody is the same situation, some people suffer from things that can’t be helped & others should show some sympathy bc this could happen to any one of you who love someone they could be taken from you in the next second & your world could change to the point where you’d rather [***] down than deal with reality & no I’m not turning to drugs, it’s bad enough as it is

I have called their number numerous times. It is always not in service. I have no idea what debt they may be true g to collect. Since they have bogus phone numbers I am going to stop trying to do text them. As of today. I will try so.e of the numbers months other messages I have read. If they want me to get straightened out with a debt I am I aware of they need to tell me what's going on. They have been taking money out of my bank a count somehow without my permission.

This number called me and left no message. I don’t answer calls I don’t know. If they are Portfolio Recovery they have send many  letters  For my home for an  previous tenant  and I keep sending them back. With a note that this person no longer lives here. So how did they get my cell phone number? I guess I have to call my attorney to look into it.

What you need to do is send them a certified, return receipt "not me" letter first.  Then when they keep calling you contact your attorney who can sue them under the FDCPA at no cost to you.  The way you want to do it will cost you consultation and other fees.
