- greg| 8 replies800-773-7948 is apparently the Western Union compliance department. Don't know what they do or what they want. But I've had several customers in the last couple days tell me I need to call them. When I do, it's just a voicemail box
- zoegirlJust got a phone call saying they were from WU and he said his name was Dennis/OperatorID#756 (foreign accent). I had just wired money and he told me to call the 800# to complete the transaction (which I've never had to do with WU in the past). I checked here first and don't intend on calling the number after reading these posts.
- Caller: Western Union
- EllenThis phone doesn't have a live operator. I called morethan 10 times today about the money I sent to the Philippines which Western Union voided. My contact number is [removed] my cell is the first number, the second is my office sometimes you should understand that I am not in my office so please use my cell.
- Angry as HellThe Western union fraud line is 1-800-448-1492
Be careful calling the # given. I do not think it is W.U. - Edisonit is a western union number. I have just called western union asking about that number.
- Caller: western union
- Annoyed with Your Call| 2 repliesThis is Western Union's compliance department. I had to call this number to complete my transaction. I asked the Operator, who was very nice, why I had to give additional information regarding my transaction, as it's never been asked of me before. He said that the person I'm sending money to, has a name similar to someone who is not allowed to use WesternUnion's transfer services.
- Caller: Western Union
- do business the correct waywestern union...........my personal policy is not to divulge any information over the phone..if they needed additional info they should have asked for it at the outset........ask them for e-mail or send paperwork.....that way it can be checked out.

- JenniferI just got a call from a new jersey number who left me a voice mail to call back at this 1800 number and gave me a long reference number. I just called and Jose wanted to ask me questions that would take 15-20 minutes. Um---really? No, I don;t think I will be calling back. There is no way they need to ask me that many questions to prove who I am which Im assuming is what they want. WEird!
- carrieI just got a call too. Gave me a long reference number and asked me to call back "in order to continue using my services". Problem is I have not used WU in a few months and that only to receive. I don't care if it's legit, still sounds fishy. I'm not calling back
- Caller: Western Union
- Tgm| 2 repliesI got same call from NJ now this number 18007737948. Does anyone know if it's a scam or not? Funny part is they called on a Saturday and Sunday afternoon
- Keith| 1 replyBeware! SCAM!
Do NOT provide them with information. I called Western Union fraud support line, and was informed that the phone number 1-800-773-7948 was NOT a Western Union phone number and I was advised to NOT give any information to someone calling from that number. They are perpetrating identity theft or some other scam.
I was originally called from 1-732-694-2151 and after giving them my address and last 4 digits of my drivers license, I became suspicious and told them that I would call Western Union myself. I was given this phone number (1-800-773-7948) to call back and a Case ID number. They are just giving you another phone number for their SCAM operation.
As opposed to calling the number she gave me, I went to WesternUnion.com and contacted the fraud support number to verify the phone number. Again, this number does NOT belong to Western Union.- Caller: FAKE "western union compliance"
- MattOu replies to KeithI got a phone call from a guy today. He speaks Chinese. He asked me to answer a survey regarding Western Union service. I was given this phone number 800-773-7948 and a long case number. But I called Western Union's number from their own website. The Western union staff told me they do not usually perform survey by phone calls. They will do it by email if it is necessary. So do not give any personal information out over the phone.
- Mohammad AkhterI received a call from 732-694-2151 a couple of months ago and they interviewed me by saying they are WU compliance deaprtment. They also gave me 800-773-7948 before making next transaction. I went through with the interview and they said that I am approved to send money overseas from the US. They called me again yesterday 3/5/2014 and the person said that my file has been re-opened for more investigation. He wanted my bank account and then I realized it is a fraudulent group. Can WU do something about this or people will continue to get confused?
Please be careful of the 800 number and the above mentioned 732 number. WU would never ask for person's bank account.
Thanks.- Caller: WU Compliance Department
