Interesting thing is, the electric bill is in my husband's name and the postcard was addressed to me.

I think the fact it is asking for your PIN, would be an immediate red flag of it being a scam!  The $100 visa card is an offer for signing up, not for existing customers.

My dad received it today from "West Penn Power", thankfully he called me before he called the number!

Got the same thing too, however, I called it and gave it my service account number. Should I be worried?

I would call your Utility customer service number and ask them.

This is an offer from Smart Energy, However there is a huge catch. By accepting the visa gift card, you also agree to a fixed electricity rate of 13.54 cents per KWh for the first six months. The rate I was given when I signed up for smart energy was about 7 cents per KWh. So it is a scam, but it's from Smart Energy and not some third party scammer (as far as I could tell). following the phone call, my "postcard" was processed........through my shredder.

I called and gave them my pin asking about the gift card the lady on the phone spoke very, very fast could barely understand her and then she said in order to get the gift card I had to give her one of the numbers off of my bills and then she could send it but if I didn’t give her my bill number info she wouldn’t send give card seems very fishy. Beware!

I got a postcard offering a $100 giftcard. Money has been tight so I decided to call. While I was waiting, I read the fine print that said account must be "current and in good standing". We are a bit behind because of the money situation so I hung up, planning on calling again when we pay the bill. Within minutes, they call me back. I'm used to not answering if I don't recognize the number so I immediately searched the number not recognizing it as the one I just called. I saw some results mentioning the electric company so I pieced it together but was weirded out that they called back. Most places don't put effort into giving away money unless they get something out of it. So I clicked the link for this page and I'm glad I did, increasing the rate for our electricity is not worth it.

Definitely a scam number do not call... Anytime somebody offers you something for free in this day and age it's probably a scam

I called this number and the phone didnt ring. Possibly a computer picked up. He wanted my number of my supplier but i had none of my información with me. He said i could call back. What i dont understand is he gave me his direct number of Smart Energy from my local state but he was speaking from a different country.  SCAM ALERT.

I received the same thing and I don't even have a utility bill
