after contacting Colorado state attorney general offfice to complain (they are very busy and I had to leave them a message to call me) I recieved a call that hung up. *69 revealed it to be, yeah, you guessed it, 1-800-779-6164! ps- att gen's phone # is : 303-866-4500.

I received a call from 1-800-779-6164 (the prize claim center)and I actually called and went to the company to claim my prize this actually is not a scam. This is the real deal and I received a top prize. I think everyone is so skeptical because of all the scams that are going on, but this is a actual giveaway and I did fill out the entry form at a mall. I believe this is a promotional giveaway and great way to advertise for your company. Everyone posting messages didn't say if they went to claim there prize. Individuals need to open their minds and try to new things. You might just receive a top prize for yourself.

Big deal if it was a call center. What is stupid about a call center? These individuals have to earn a living just like everybody else, right? This may be a way of marketing. There are commercials on television and people try new products from seeing them on television. Marketing is marketing whether it is over the phone, on television or in the newspapers you read. So if the product or service is not of interest just communicate the message. Stop acting like marketing representatives are evil and untrustworthy. They have bills to pay just like you and me! Remember to treat every individual with the same respect you expect from others. God Bless!!

I think you are overreacting a bit. Life is too short to sweat the small things. Did they ask you for a credit card number? Did they charge a credit card of yours? If not, I don't think them contacting you can be catergorized as a scam. If you are not interested you are entitled to your opinion, but assumptions make an ass out of you and me.

Ashley in CA: Calling people and telling them something that isn't true IS a scam.  It's not a "small thing" when it wastes somebody's time.

If you are going to tell the story tell it right you were left a message stating that you name was entered to win a ford among some other prizes.

Received message from an Amy Lewis claiming that our name was pulled as a finalist in the Cool Car Cold Cash giveaway from last year.  She claimed that we had 48 hours to respond or the prize would be awarded to a runner up. The number given to call back was 1 800 779 6164 x125.  We never called the number back knowing that we never entered any such contest.

To all you telemarketers out there - get a real job.  I have never, nor will I ever, buy anything from anyone over the phone.  What a huge waste of time.

Of course its a scam. They will want money, credit card numbers etc. If you won something, anything - it costs NOTHING.

Please all we have is time? People waste time doing mundane things like complaining and being negative. Think about it cynic!

Time is like dust in the wind, it's nothing! People are so caught up in their lives that time is everything! A little self-centered don't you think. It is ok not to be interested, but to assume money may be involved is an assumption! Assumptions turn into fallacies. So unless you have facts to back your arguement then you have made an opinion, not a statement. Where are all the positive-minded people?

Degrading people for making a living is a sin in the bible. You will be judged by God, just as harshly as you judge others! So before you go and degrade people think about what their situation might be? You don't-- so stop judging. You are the type of person that probably makes a telemarketers job unpleasant and disturbing!! No one forced you to buy anything or join anything so how is that wrong?

How do you know someone else did not enter you? You don't and I sure you know everyone's whereabouts and what they fill out for others. Don't think so! So stop judging others and look at yourself. I got a Call last Friday and set an appointment for 12-15-2007. My fiance and I attended a nice presentation there was no pressure to buy anything why would there be. We learned how we can travel for next to nothing. Now all our dreams are coming true. We scratched off a cuise and are making plans to go to St Marten.

What's hilarious is that telescammers log in here to file misleading and false reports.

A bit advice -- the next time you file a false report here, tone it down a bit. The "We made our dreams come true and achieved Nirvana" tone of your fictional stories is laughably over-the-top.

A good rule of thumb for consumers: if a telescammer is so desperate as to file false reports like the one above, then it's a good sign that what they're really peddling is larceny.
