no this number is associated with FRAUD. ABSOLUTELY no PHONE carrier will list a private citizens name as the HOLDER ON THE ACCOUNT. This has been reported again to FCC and FBI- they are currently under investigation.  They have people working inside of GLOBEL*TEL who is selling your information.  If you have family members who were ever incarcerated- they have gotten their logs and accounts and target YOU! You notice absolutely NO JAIL OR PRISON OR EVEN STATE IS IDENTIFIED. FCC REQUIRES ALL STATE PRISON SYSTEMS TO BE IDENTIFIED TO THE RECEIVING PARTY- DO NOT GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO...SPREAD THE WORD...THIS NUMBER IS REGISTERED OUT OF WESTMINISTER CA TO SUNNY LANG

CSA (Customer Service of American) provides the prepaid calling for inmates who are located in jails and detention centers on behalf of inmate phone companies. CSA is a call center operating 24/7 and has been in business since 2007.  If you receive a call with our 1-800-849-6081 number on your CID it is a call from an inmate. The calls from the facilities are routed through our call center. CSA does not contact our customers directly except upon request by the inmates. If you need assistance please contact CSA at 1-800-849-6081.

So the let me get this straight. Your company has you troll 1-800-notes as well as Google to explain to us what they're about?! Give us a break. Troll elsewhere, please. Your company makes a killing from a 3 minute phone calls from some idiot who's gotten themselves thrown in prison. I'm all for capitalism. However,  if the company you work for is so legit , why do they have you trolling websites to explain what they're about?

    1-800-849-6081 Call I.D " 800 Service"

Since I don’t know who possibly could be in jail, I assume it was an inmate who messed up the number and got a digit or few wrong and got my house instead. On call I.D. I didn’t know the number so I did not answer it.

This 1-800 number is through  “AmTel”  or  “ATN Inc.”  a “Confinement Telephone Specialists”
I have never heard of them before today. It seems to be a real business, albeit annoying when we get called accidentally due a to wrong number.

Here is their site and business address; www.atni.net/faq.cfm and their company is on 913 Dilworth Street   St. Marys, Georgia 31558   It checked out with the local P.D., they too have a inmate phone service with this AmTel.

This bit is took from the ATN site:

“ATN, Inc. limits the amount of credit you will be eligible for to $25 for overall usage. Customers who routinely exceed this limit will not be able to receive collect calls and will be required to enroll in a Discount Dialing Plan. Once your account is set up as prepay, it will stay prepay. Credit limits are subject to change without notice.”

Apparently its a phone service of sorts where an inmate at a jail or prison, facility etc… can call and have a family member or friend set up an account for them so they can use a cell phone or something. So if you know somebody that could be locked up I guess it could be from them.

I suspect it is a legitimate "call-through" agency/entity that facilitates (primarily illicit) calls from inmates.
Jailed inmates locally housed are allowed calls from in-house phones, but generally they have to call collect.  Different organizations are set-up for this purpose; thus, when they call, you have the option of accepting, declining, or -- in some instances -- blocking.
Sometimes the inmates get wrong numbers.  Sometimes they just call random numbers for the fun of it, and there are few repercussions; what have they to lose?
Invariably, this is from inmates in local county jails; usually, they have pending charges. The only way a convicted inmate from a penitentiary can call is with a smuggled cell phone, or a (extremely rare) specially approved call by the warden.
So, short answer:  Legitimate entity, but probably a wrong number or just an inmate who picked your number at random for kicks.  Unless you know someone in jail; then they want you to pay for the privilege of speaking with them.

I believe that this is a call from an inmate in a jail who wants you to set up a prepay on your phone so that you can accept phone calls from a State Housing Facility.
