For everyone stating that this is a scam, you are wrong.

This is for Bank of America.  I called back and left out the extension because I was not sure who I was calling.  After hearing the Bank of America hold music, a specialist in the mortgage department answered the phone, and told me that the call was about my Home Equity Line of Credit expiring.  Before I gave my information, I asked the person there how I could know it was Bank of America, and the representative gave me a license number registered with the Nationwide Mortgage License System and their employee number that I could take to my bank to verify they work at Bank of America.

I called my personal banker and gave the employee number, and they were able to verify it for me.  I also googled "NMLS".  There is a consumer access site that you can enter their license into and it says Bank of America.

They hung up when answering machine picked up. If it were a legitimate call, they would have left a message.

This actually was a legitimate number for us.   BofA home loan officer called us back as we requested and this number is what showed up on ID.    It'd be nice if their caller ID displayed BofA.

They called yesterday at 6:30 CT.  I normally don't answer calls for which I don't recognize the phone number.  This time I did.  The guy on the other end didn't realize I answered the phone and he was telling his people that it was Friday evening and they should go the f**** home.  When I said "What?" he hung up.

They called again today and woke me up.  I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message.  Can't imagine that this was Bank of America.  But how would I know if they don't leave a message?

I did not answer but after reading some of the other posts, it probably is B of A calling to remind me (as they did recently by letter) that my Home Equity Line terms are changing next year.  For the first 10 years, the line required only that interest be paid monthly, there was no requirement to start repaying the principle.  However, next year I have to be paying on the principle as well.  I had another line like this that changed over around a year ago and B of A was in touch to let me know what my options were.

From the bank of America app I contacted who I thought was bank of America to start the first time homebuyers grants applications.
Was talking to a person claiming to be Mark Chandler who dodged my questions, said most of the application was done online but then asked how much I had saved for a down..
The grants are for closing costs, down payments,  titles and registration etc.
I have since contacted an actual bank employee whom I'm hoping is more knowledgeable and has better effective listening skills than Mark Chandler whoever he was.
