I've been receiving a lot of calls from this number, so naturally I researched and phone this page before.  At 9:30am this morning, they called again.  I said Hello and waited, the caller finally responds and says Hello...I'm from such and such and I'm calling about your Microsoft computer.  I let him talk a little bit and then I said, "What scam is this stop calling me, I do not have a Microsoft computer!"  He immediately states that he didn't say Microsoft, he stated Macintosh.  Then he hung up. Seriously....  lol  I just have to laugh.

Man was very rude insisting I have a problem with my computer. I kindly asked him to take me off the list and he raised his voice with me and told me that I need to be aware of a problem with my computer, microsoft. I do not have microsoft. Scam !

Good way to reduce the number of calls.  if ALL of us do that, and waste a few minutes each of their time, they will eventually become unprofitable.

Have received 3 or 4 calls fro this 800 number.  Called Microsoft and the said they do not call .  This is a scam .. I guess from reading other posts it doesn't pay to report it.  Would like to do something though.  Any suggestions?

A man with a thick Indian ascent asking me questions about my computer

The caller had an Indian accent and said my computer was sending out a signal that it had an error and that I should type in a sequence so he can access my computer and fix the problem. I argued with him that I don't have a PC and he switched to Apple. He wanted to remote into my computer. I hung up on him.

Wow! New scam call from (800)880-9889. Calls me twice in a row. The second call: Man with an Indian accent claims they are from Microsoft calling about my computer. "Oh really?" I say. "Is it trying to take over the Internet on it's own AGAIN?"

I never had a call into Microsoft, and know they don't just call out of the blue. I told the man that my computer has taken over all electronic devices in my house and has even accessed the computer in my car, causing the alarm to go off while driving. At which point he was confused.

I told him, that the computer knows I'm talking to you, and it's going to get angry. It will know in a second where you are calling from, who you are working for, it will then know all your family members information and phone numbers, my computer knows how to use GPS locate in conjunction with Google maps. It will the tap into their computers and all devices in their homes. Then it will take control of their cars.

By this point, he was completely dumbfounded. So I ask, Well you said your from Microsoft, So you gunna fix it?" .......(silence)" Or, you're not really from Microsoft are you?"

Received a call, picked up said hello and got a recorded response of "Goodbye".

Just got a call from these douchepackers on my cell from an Indian named "JOHN" yeah right who are you trying to fool???
I asked to speak to a supervisor  and another Indian accent got on the phone and when I told him I didn't own a computer and promptly told him to get a real [***] job and stop trying to scam Americans he called back wanting to know how my name and number was on his list of Microsoft owners I hung up after telling him to go [***] himself again and once more he called back and this time I told him if he called back I would call the police on their scamming [***] he started to reply call the cops but I hung up. Waiting for a fourth call..... Of course the number they called from was "NOT IN SERVICE"

Blocked this number.  My brother got calls from this person before and he kept calling and calling. It's a scam.

I keep getting calls from this number.  Say they are from Microsoft Partners and want to fix a problem on my computer.  I asked if they are actually part of Microsoft and he said yes.  I asked for his name and employee number...surprise he kept on talking over me.  I would think Microsoft would like to nail these scammers for using their name.

I believe this is probably a scam, but not based on someone calling MacIntosh by its full name rather than Mac.  Your friends might call the company Mac, but a professional working for Apple isn't necessarily going to (Apple is a company that manufactures computers, among other things; Macintosh is the name of a family of computers made by Apple). The fact that the number is disconnected when you try to call them back is a much more legitimate sign that it isn't really Microsoft.  And, since Microsoft and Apple are totally different companies, a technician employed by Microsoft isn't going to switch to working with your Apple product if you don't have a Microsoft computer.  And, finally, it doesn't matter what kind of accent the guy has - electronics companies seem to regularly have people in their help centers who are in India and not the US, since the nature of the internet and computers doesn't require them to be here.  Best way to be sure if the call is legitimate is to call Microsoft themselves instead of going to other sources or guessing.

I have also sent scams on to the Internet Fraud division of the FBI.

When was the last time you visited the Apple store, either online or in person? The name Macintosh doesn't appear anywhere. Only "Mac." Lena's point about non-standard English is very valid when it comes to identifying a scammer from another country.

I just called Microsoft directly.  The representative said Microsoft NEVER calls the customer about computer problems.  They ALWAYS leave it up to the customer to call them.

Rcvd two calls today, second one I did not answer. Foreigner said he was checking Microsoft problems with my computer or something to that effect. I told him as an engineer I took care of any problems that come up[, thanked him for caling and hung up. The second call, the one I did not answer, came about 4 hours later.

This  number call every hour......but failed to say or relate any message.......I need the calls to stop....

left a garbled message on my answering machine today, yesterday called claiming to be from microsoft, sounded like an indian accent

these people won't stop calling. they say its to fix my computer.

I have been getting calls from this number every day at least twice during the day, when I answer the call a voice mail says "you die" when i call the number back then I get, this number is not in service.
Its very annoing
