Add me as well.  They are calling me 4-5x/day, and never seem to answer the phone when I call back ~ I get a recorded message that does NOT give me the name of the company.

Purse stolen 2001, identity stolen, used in another State. Just got call from this # asking for that person. Said no one lives here by name. Know it is a debt collector. One told me a few yrs ago that these cases are sold around to collectors and they keep trying to collect. Too many yrs anyway, such a pain.

They called my cell number today-I called them back on my land line-they claim they have a file in reference to my cell number....This is a new cell # and I told them so...they persisted....I told them if they called again I would report them to the police and to the attorney generals office for fraud.  Once they are told it is a cell #, if they continue to call, they can be fined.

    Some Tips:
    *Keep all messages

when I spoke to them they claim to be Penn credit corporation it sound to me like a scam. did not knew the right information there debt is from a 3rd party debt that was already pay 20 year ago . most of there debt collected is from scam mail order companies that prey on the elderly people. the hole company is shady its a scam. Remember when the scammers will call you and make believe there were collectors well now they call 1800 900 1394 and make up stories  that are not true and try to get debt you already pay and this was said by an employee that work with them not only do they abuse people but also there formal employees Alex thorn wrote about this abuse in a review. don't give them any money tell them to give you the information of the place you have your debt with and they do not have information first of all they have to have all information ( company name, phone number) they wont have it and if they do don't call the number they give you ask your phone company operator to look for that company, look on yellow pages. They wont have it the information any way.

First they told me there were from penn credit corporation. This was tthe number 1800 900 1394. They call me and said the name of my son, so I said what about him they said my name and said I have to pay a debt. when I ask them from: what, when, we're, name of creditor and adress the dedt was owed they have no idea they said it's from a 3rd party and told  me my old  adress that I have not being living there for 23 years I told them that after 10 years in the state of new jersey you could not charge most debt. theres a dead line, he told me that I owed the money to a lawyer he had no name and, I said now I know you making up stories because I never had a lawyer he said that the lawyer was from the  state of new jersey department of treasure. And that debt is never going to go away I told him I was recording the call and its not legal to collect debt in the name of an government and i will be calling the state of new jersey department of treature. Guess what, he did not call me again. Also the government if you owed them money they take it right out of you income tax.

Received a call from this number asking to verify my social security before even providing any information as to why I needed to verify my social which I didn’t, I thought most debt collectors do it by letter, am I wrong?

They are not required to send a letter out until they have first spoken to you or left a message. Then they are required to send it out within 5 days of that event. If you do not verify who you are, they will not send the letter out.

This caller is a bill collector company named Penn Credit. For example, if you have unpaid tolls or similar unpaid debt, such as medical bills, the original debtor sells your debt (at a discount) to this bill collector who then has every right to try to collect that debt. However, by law, they cannon bully you or harass you. If the calls are harassing, record the calls for evidence. To stop the calls you can send a certified letter to the company demanding they not call you again. Of course, not paying your debts can seriously compromise your credit rating. There is much information about your rights vs debt collectors to be found online. Let your fingers to the research.

Since there's no logical reason for you to look up a known phone number, you must have come here to shill. You seen quite gung-ho for this debt collector & don't take into consideration they're calling people who don't owe them a debt.
