Flaming morons... it's not a scam, it's not spam, it's an authentic AT&T number that they've had for over a decade.  It's the billing department calling to alert you that you're about to get disconnected for non-payment.  In my case, credit card changed, I'd updated the details via the voice answerbot a month ago, but that apparently doesn't re-enable the auto-debit. :(  Talked to a rep named 'Dennis' <something> with a thick East Indian accent (yeah that makes me six kinds of comfortable) and theoretically got the auto-pay re-enabled again.  We'll see next month.

AT&T, would it KILL you to have someone speaking ENGLISH as a primary language?  This guy was TRULY hard to understand.  Sorry, but Hindi is not my favored thick freaking accent....

I don't have AT&T as a carrier. It's a recorded message telling me to call
concerning my account.  Yeah, right.  Probably telemarketing.

I keep getting calls from this number, & others with the same message, & I'm not the main phone. My Mom pays the bill with auto pay, so it's paid on time. We all have  a phone, all 4 of us in my house, & I am only one that gets these calls! I also get texts with the same message, asking if I'm thr main account hold, & responsable for the bill, to press 1, if I am. I delete these, & I block the numbers. Mom has talked to AT&T & they said I should not be getting these calls, & texts, they can't find any records of anyone calling of texting from these numbers, at these times. So yes it is a scam!

I do have at&t and have never been late with paying my bill/bills with them and pay via online ahead of time so why do they insist on calling every few months and they are not even calling the main number on the plan but one of the family members number.

That is the way our's is. Mom's is the main number, & yet they are calling me, everyday! I also get a text, saying the same thing. I keep blocking the number over & over & yet they still get through.

They call about my mobile service but i dont have service with them i have service trhu verizon they call every day and is starting to bother me

Cingular IS AT&T. Cingular does not exist anymore. Cingular has always been part of AT&T. In 2007, AT&T decided to incorporate its cell phone divsion, Cingular, into the rest of AT&T. Google it, and you will see they are indeed the same company. When you call 611 or the other number, you are calling AT&T. I know this because I was with Cingular over a decade ago when I first got a cell phone. If they are calling you, you are likely late on your bill or a billing error has been made. Check online, call the main AT&T (or Cingular, as you seem to think it is) customer service line, or call 611 if you don't feel comfortable talking to the folks at the 800-947-5096 number. Don't totally disregard the calls. You could have your service switched off.

I forgot to pay my bill once due to a lengthy hospital stay and I ignored these calls. My service was suspended and it was a pain to get it turned back on.

This number is NOT a scam,, it is just a courtesy call ( a Reminder)
if you have a cellular account and you are past due,
they call you before switching off service,, AT&T has great customer service,,
if you ask them to set up a payment arrangement they will extend you another week to ten days, and not turn off your phone,, so just call them back,,

I to get these calls at different times of the month!

I'm on Sprint (and not late on my bill), yet they insisted that I was late paying my ATT bill.  
I consider that a scam.

This number is an AT&T call-bot, with recorded message to call the service provider, for due and late payments. The end.

My husband received a call on his Verizon Wireless cell phone from this number. He did not answer. I looked the number up here and then called the number and received the automated system for AT&T wireless. We do not have an account with AT&T wireless, and we have never had an account with AT&T wireless. They could find no record of his number nor a reason why they would have called that number. We do have an AT&T land line, but that is not connected to the wireless system (and is current, so it was not a bill collection call in that respect, either). I suspect someone used this number to mask their illegal call.

I am receiving calls daily from this number. This is my work phone and I am the Administrative Assistant and my church so I don't know why I would be receiving constant calls and they don't leave a message. Please check into this and see what can be done. I have tried to block it but it keeps coming through

It is definitely a scam from AT&T considering I have Verizon.  Bunch of idiots.

I received a call from this number 800-947-5096 morning.  I did not answer and screened it.  They left a message saying it was AT&T and to go online or call 611 from my cell with regard to my service.  I called AT&T from my cell phone and they have no records of any communications to me to my land line.  Yes, they keep records of contacting you.  Besides, they would have contacted me through my cell phone.  The AT&T rep and I were suspicious that this is a valid number because my account is paid automatically each month for the past six years.  AT&T could not validate this number as one of theirs.  Never call these people back directly, and make sure to block these type of callers.

I have att wireless and my bill is NOT past due but i am constantly getting calls from this number and it's annoying!

I have never had at&t or cingular.  this number called and somebody trying to sell me some credit repair thing.
obviously spoofing, because when call back on land line it is the at&t collection number.
