I am concerned that my personal information/identity has been compromised, and find that it is associated to me paying my bill late this month.

I received an email, and two phone calls. Phone number? 312 962-4680. The SAME female phoned me two days in a row. She knew that I paid this month's bill late, and knew the last four digits of my card. She was barely able to speak English. She wanted information from me, under the guise of conducting a survey.

The associated email text is at the bottom of this comment. The Email included a link to a fake site and had the WAMU logo ripped off from Wamu's real site. The email was not from any address I had received Wamu email from previously.

I DID go to the site, and it wanted me to log in with my card account number, NOT with my user name and password! That's why I did a scam-related websearch---I knew I had a username--why couldn't I enter IT? Thank God I got this Email AFTER setting up my online account, and NOT before!

Last night, the phishers called, and I was too busy to talk so I told them as much. I may have been drawn in to the scheme, had I not been that busy. No alarms would have gone off with a CALL, since I paid this month's bill last week, but I did pay LATE, and the caller knew that information! During my web search I came across a page, that states several people have had similar calls, when they too, were late on a credit card payment. It is a commonality. Perhaps someone in WAMU's internal collections department?

The info the FAKE webpage asks for? Account Number, Last 4 Digits of SSN, and Zip Code.

Am getting a lot of hangups from this number, and just got the same email as above. I know it's fake because I closed my WaMu account months ago for an overabundance of fraudulent purchase activity. It's clear WaMu has weak customer security, and these guys know it. In my case, the email included a line that already HAD the last four digits of my account number (which is the easiest part to get, anyway.) BEWARE!

I received an email like the one above asking me to call the number or to "login" at their site "www.wamucanhelp.com".  At the "login" it asks for your account number and last 4 of your SS#.  I believe this is a scam.

I actually haven't received any calls from this number. You see, I got the email mentioned above the same day that I made my regular, on-time payment. The thing that got me was that it said I needed to call this number or go thru the link to the website to find out what was going on. I opted for the website link. When I saw the info that it was asking for (the request for the last four digits of my SSN# especially) I got suspicious. I checked my on-line messages from the official WaMu site (the one I pay my bills thru) and it never mentioned anything wrong with my account. I'm currently going through the channels of reporting it with WaMu now. After looking at it again, I started doubting my suspicions thinking maybe I was just being overly cautious. I decided to do a Google search of the phone number just to check. Low and behold I found this site and the complaints about the scammers. So, to those of you who caught this as well (you guys with comments here before me) I want to say thank you for easing my mind and making me more confident that I'm not just being paranoid. There's definitly something to be said by "going with your gut."

This is a HUGE scam. You could do what I did.  Make up 16 numbers and let them try to use em.  What a bunch of [***]! Maybe they should try to work.
