Yes this is fraud. You cannot be jailed for defaulting on a civil debt. Report to the Internet Crime Complaint Center http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG.

I keep getting calls from this phone number at work; states her name is Michelle.  I do have a payday loan just not thru who they are saying I have one thru.  Saying that there is legal action against my name and social security number.  The lady kept stuttering and was very difficult to understand.  it sounded like she was trying to read a rx.

my mom got a sudden phone call from this number too threatening her. he called again lastnight and i talked to him. he claimed to be "hector boyd" from the legal department and threatened to take her check and her social security number. he kept saying his attourney and all this but he wouldnt even give her the name or address of the company. i had a time just getting him to say he was in florida. he wouldnt send her anyhting saying she was being sued or nothing he just said he could send an 11 page affidavid. after we hung up i called the number back and the person that answered sounded like the same guy that i talked to only he said his name was richard something. when i asked for the company name, he hung up. he just kept telling her to fax him a paper saying she would pay it all by december 10th. it seems fishy to me. i dont believe it now that i see all these posts. im going to contact a lawyer though and talk to them about it.

I just got the same thing a couple days ago.  Calling my cell repeatedly and now calling my job.  They state that I took a payday loan of $350.00 in October of 2009 and that I have yet to repay it.  The most glaring problem is that I have NEVER taken a payday loan, nor have I ever filled out an application for one.  They called today and I have had enough.  The guy on the other end of the line, "William" or so he says (though the accent would prove otherwise) told me to get an attorney.  I told him that I have one, the attorney general; also I have notified the local police, my brother who works with the FBI, and while I am at it Homeland Security and INS.  He hung up.

Got a voicemail trying to get ahold of a past employee who happened to have my current work number.  His name was "Danny Stan" but he was obviously of Indian decent.  Called their number: 1-800-955-9730 and "Manish" answered.  It sounded exactly like the guy in the voicemail.  I told him that this guy no longer works for this company.  He stated that he would not call again.  Let's see if they call back.

stop f***ing calling US!!! Really, ALL payday loan payments goes through the bank account you put for payments. you have to pay them or they will pull it out of your account automatically. So you say that EVERYBODY took one out & didnt pay it back? that's hard to believe. This is harassment. the cops won't do anything about it but my lawyer will. Please stop with MANY names & stupid voice changes. We aren't dumb! 2009 crap! its almost 2011.

I received the threatening calls yesterday, on both my cell and my office phone.  I could barely understand either message, but called the number given. I was told I had a payday loan due and that when they tried to withdraw the amount from the bank, it was not covered. I do not have a loan with them!

The callers were Pakistani or from India and they were very hard to understand.  They finally said they worked for Morgan & Associates, a law firm.  They had my information: name, SS#, bank name, and obviously, phone numbers.  When I wouldn't give them any attorney information, or go along with them,  they got very flustered because they were talking to a lowly woman and I was supposed to cave in!  I was hung up on 3 times, and on the 4th, I was told not to call THEM again!!

I verified with my bank that no deposit for $300 was ever made and that no attempt to collect was presented for payment.  I just wonder how many older people they scam with this?  How many do they convince to pay up for something they didn't do, or wouldn't remember if they had!

You are a fake.  You guys are in India and you bought the last our information from a payday loan company.  YOU WILL NOT SHOW UP AT ANY COURTHOUSE IN THE U.S. BECAUSE YOU ARE IN INDIA.  STOP TRYING TO DEFRAUD THE GOOD PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY.  YOU SHAME AND BRING DISHONOR TO THE BILLIONS OF YOUR INDIAN BROTHERS AND SISTERS.  Folk you either applied on the internet for or had a payday loan and the company release your information last four of SSN, address and bank account info to these idiots.  I have gotten at least four of these type of calls this year though i paid back every penny to the real lender.  After I got the first call I kept calling them back pushing them for details, to verify the debt in writing, to provide me with the name & address of the original creditor, to tell me what court & country the suit is filed in, and reminding them that calling me at work is a financial penalty under the Fair Debt Collections Act.  they seem ignorant of the U.S laws so it is great to hit them with that.  Have fun.  They tell ME not to call back now.
