It's a scam folks, don't be fooled!

Received an automated message reminding me to file my income tax.  Even refers to a recent change to Net File.  Comes up with the CRA phone number by is listed as GOC-GDC.  Do not think it is the real Canada Revenue Agency based on something that was in the automated message.  Do not want to mention it as the scammers will be monitoring this site.  But beware and if you are calling to confirm dial direct and do not use re-dial.

GOC-GDC / 800-959-8281. It is the correct number of the GC. But given the spam reports I will not pick it up, and I will let the answering machine record a message. Thing is, the moment the answering machine picks up, they hang up. Got this twice in 2 weeks.

every day 3 tomes a day starting 8:30am then in the middle of the day then at night even 9pm.  can not be revenue tax Canada that time they are closed early morning and late night.  I'm sick and tired of this crap, annoying crazy young people they are the ones who are doing this.

Abusive language was used by the caller! He threatened to have criminal charges pressed against me. This needs to be stopped ASAP

I just got a call from this number and they left a message to remind me to file my 2017 taxes.  Well funny thing is, I have already filed them and received my refund.  And since when does the government call to remind you to file your taxes?  Like really!  It's sad that there will be people out there who fall for it.

Received a recorded message reminding me to file my 2017 income taxes.  They left a telephone number that does not match this one and said to call the London, Ontario tax office, if I had any questions.  However, we do not live in the London tax office coverage area.  I would agree a scam.  It is also the second Canada Revenue Agency scam telephone call, we have received this tax season and it is not even the end of March yet.  BEWARE!

I got a call today too, from that GOC GOD, and I was just reading an article about scams, tricking the revenue agency site, but it was about the USA. I see they are doing the same in Canada too.

After hacking the page for the tax prepared on a computer, they get to the data of the person and they ( the scammers) file his tax just the same way as that person had filed it, from the  previous year. that person gets a refund, then the scammers ask that money back from him, telling that it was a mistake and a refund is needed, supposedly to the revenue agency.

I got a scam call from 1 800 959 8281  supposedly from GOC GDC, and it was for filing my taxes. Strange reminder! I see that many persons on this page got scams from the same number. This should be an easy concern for the police to find out who is the scammer owning that phone number. After all they are scamming supposedly from the revenue agency, which should be a serious matter for the government, and which should be investigated without delay.

So I was thinking the same way. Why police does not care about this kind of ABUSE,  by threatening people. I think ABUSE is prohibited in Canada.

I got a call from this number. Left voicemail, robocall from CRA. A reminder to file my 2018 taxes, spoken in english and french. It is a legit number, but I'm guessing that scammers spoof it sometimes. This was just a automatic reminder, didn't want anything in message. This is a legit number, but be careful, never give SIN or other personal info as scammers can spoof it so you can't be 100% sure.

just got a call from this number and voicemail (automated), was a reminder to file my 2017 taxes, and that I can file 2014-2017 through netfile, message with in both french and english.  seemed legit

1-800-959-8281 - CRA Inbound call centre.  Caller ID GOC-GDC.  However no message left.  When you call the number back it is all automated regarding your income tax filing, adjustments, refunds, address changes, etc.  So if it is a line that you as an individual can call into why do we receive calls from this number.

Yup, my girlfriend got the same message. Bilingual, reminder to file, "did you know you can now file 2014-16 on Netflix?" and gave the real address of the London tax office as well as the real phone number for call back. What's their angle here? Just trying to get you used to receiving calls to lend legitimacy to the fraud call which comes later? I don't see the point in doing this if not.

That of course should say Netfile, not Netflix.  Stupid autocorrect.

The number is spoofed, the police can't trace a spoofed number. Basically it's an app, and you enter the caller ID info you WANT to appear. Using an app like that I could call you and it will say it's the "President of the United States"  calling, from "Washington DC" at whatever number I enter.
