Got VM from Frank McDermott ext. 157, saying "I understand you sell life insurance". This is a hot button for life agents hoping the guy is calling to buy insurance. Didn't call back.

We got the call from McDermott wanting to set up my wife's retirement payout. He said a Susan Cervantes will meet my wife at her work today at 1100 hours. She never showed. What does this company have to do with CalPers? I have no idea. When he started to try and get personal information such as income and date of birth, we said we would discuss it with Susan on the appt date. He said he was just trying to save time. Something is wrong with this picture. My other question is how did he get our phone number since we requested info directly from CalPers?

@Rick, I don't work for The Lotter Group, but I am a financial advisor. You would be surprised at how much information is available out there from each of us. You probably filled out some form regarding an evaluation of your wife's retirement plan. That form was probably from The Lotter Group. And that explains why they called you. It is a common practice in the Financial and Banking Services industry. If you have a CD at any bank, sooner or later you will get a call from one of their financial advisers. The goal of the free review is of course to identify potential retirement shortfalls and offer a product(s) to cover that gap. Calpers also has financial advisers. They, too, get paid by the insurance companies whenever they sell a financial product to the teachers. Whomever helped your wife set up the 403b got paid by the insurance company.
The Lotter Group is not a scam. They're just another financial services company looking for clients.

I was "recruited" by this company through 2 different interviews and then "hired on."  I was told to go online and provide an abundance of personal and private information.  I was told that I would have a higher pay out if I provided my tax return verifying income.  I signed a contract.  I was then scheduled for a one week training session and told to clear my calendar.  I was given a phone extension and a business card form.  This went on for almost two weeks.  I was then called by a new person and told that the man who interviewed and hired me was no longer with the company and therefore, I was dropped from the training and by the way, did I want to buy some leads for $700.00 and have a go at it on my own.  This company is completely unscrupulous.  They will not verify that they have shredded my documents or cancelled my contract.  They did a classic bait and switch.  Remember if it sounds too good to be true, it sure is!

    Hi,
I got a call from Frank and interview from Joyce.
Do they really ask you to pay for leads for $700?
They have a website to fill in all your back ground.

I was recently contacted and offered a position.  However, I have not been able to complete the online contracting process.  I too am suspicious of the opportunity just because it sounds too good.  I am trying to get some facts before I invest more time into this.  Just doing my due diligence and any input is welcome.  Thanks,

I work directly with this organization.  To make it clear, we are selective at who we bring on board, and in order to be a part of our company, there are rigorous qualifications you have to pass.  If you have been approved to come on board than kudos to you!
As far as paying for leads....NEVER!  Our success is mutual and when you are successful, we are as well.  We want your success, and our first year agents do 6 figures.  They do not achieve it by sitting back on their laurels expecting it to happen, but by hard work, following the training, and helping people.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us because we are very open, clear, and want to make sure that you are too.  I've been here for over 15 years.  With that said, historically those who are not successful here are those that don't follow the training, or are just simply too involved in their own thing and not visiting clients that are asking help.

    teacher replies to GeoUSA
The Lotter Group is just another Insurance and financial services organization. The look for resumes submitted on-line to Monster, Indeed, Careers, etc, etc. That is how they recruit insurance agents. Yes, they provide free leads to their agents . All the leads are from schools teachers and school staff. The only deceiving part is that they have access to a lot of these teacher's information. They don't know teacher's salaries or years of service. The teachers give that information over the phone when they are contacted from someone from a call center. No, they are not a cult. They are not an MLM. Can you make a lot of money? Yes, in 7-10 years when the agents gain sales experience and product knowledge. Are the leads good? Flip a coin. Some leads are good, some are not. Nobody becomes wealthy overnight in this industry. All "commission only" insurance companies have a revolving door.
