Since the scammers accessed the computer, they probably did one or more of the following:
    • Disabled the anti-virus software
    • Added nasty malware to the computer
    • Copied the Contact List (so they can email your soon-to-be ex-friends)
    • Copied any financial data or passwords they could find
    • Compromised the ID
    • "Zombied" the computer, so it would respond to THEIR commands sent via internet
    • Deleted some important files
    • Asked for money to repair the damage they caused

What can you do immediately after such an attack?
    1.  Pull the cables on the computer, so it cannot access the internet.
    2.  Change ALL  passwords stored on the computer
    3.  Run FULL malware scans on the computer, in "SAFE" mode!
    4.  Change the passwords again, particularly if the malware scans showed anything
    5.  Inform your bank and credit card companies
    6.  Sign up for credit monitoring, and check the status frequently
    7.  You may have to bring the computer to a local repair shop, and tell them the story.
    8.  Tell friends what happened, so they can be aware of strange emails from you
    9.  Plug in the computer only AFTER all the above have been done
    10.  Change the passwords on all online accounts.  Even better - access a "safe", uninfected  computer, and chance your online account passwords RIGHT NOW.

Just rec'd call that told me that my computer was hacked, and I needed to do this stuff to remove the hackers. It involved hitting the windows key on the keyboard. I had a call like this before a few weeks ago (from a male with a heavy Eastern Indian accent) saying the same thing. But last time he asked what my keyboard looked like. This time, he said to hit the Windows key on the laptop.

I played around with him for at least ten minutes, asking him to repeat things, asking what his name was, if he knows this person or that person, etc., without doing anything. When I said my son would have to call him, my son plays video games (I don't have a son), I asked for his number and he gave this one, above. So I at least kept him from calling someone else for ten minutes.

Got same scam call from a Steve Wilson. Claimed to be certified Microsoft tech. I don't even have Microsoft computer. Let him ramble more. I called number he gave back, and got an answer. I said I got wrong number, hung up and they called me back repeatedly, not saying anything. Then I called Comcast who supplies my phone service. Comcast instructed me how to block their number and suggested I report this to police. Not sure what reporting to police does, particularly if scammers are not in my region, but guess it can't hurt.

Just got a spammer call saying he was with the "Windows Support Group" from "TechIT Solutions".  He said his name was James Russell and his phone number is 800 969-7419.  For such a English-sounding name, it was extremely difficult to understand him thru his heavy Indian accent. After hanging up, I called the number and another man with a heavy Indian accent answered the call.   I've had these before. These guys are criminals, ready to steal you blind.  An acquaintance of my fell pry to this about 10 months ago and they extorted about $300 from him, and stole his entire contacts list.  BEWARE!!

I received the same type of call stating that I had been hack and there was a virus on my computer. I feel so dumb now.
A guy who called himself John Rogers, ask for my Bank routing number to pay for a Lifetime virus protection along with free software. He asked for $149.00 which I paid online. Today I received a call from my bank stating someone was trying to charge items to my account. I did not think for a moment about this call. When I did not receive a call back as promised I looked the number up and found this information. I hope that they did not get any more information. I am really concerned at this time.

I received a call from Mike from "Microsoft" saying my computer was infected with a virus and he needed me to tell him what key was next to the CTRL key...I played this game with him for awhile before telling him I would call him back.  He wanted me to type in www.surpremecontrol.com...I'm not sure what this site is, but I did not go to it for fear of an attack for real. By the time I asked him about the name of the company he was calling from at the end of the call, he said he was calling from "Windows support".  I didn't call him back but looked here and found others have dealt with the same thing.  I hope something can be done about this because it is serious.
