The same thing happened to me. I am very concerned and do not know what to do at this point.

They called and said its a issue with Comcast network and it's used by people in Nigeria. He took access to Remote Desktop and took all the files that he needs. Requested to pay $200 / $400 for a level 12 support. They are cold blooded Indians. They run the website askrighthelp.com, they have a toll free number and they try to get the google ad displaying them as Comcast customer care. Their main intention is not to produce malware or adware. They are interested to get the money from you and gain access to your credit cards. Stay aware from them. You will never be able to call them back as they are high tech professionals who does hacking full time.

This number was listed as "Charter customer Service."  I called for internet issues and they claimed they needed to remote in to my computer to fix the issue.  They told me to go to "www.support.me" so they could access my computer.  This sounded shady so I told them I didn't want to do this step.  They then became adamant that this needed to be done so I hung up on them.  They called me back and tried to get me to do it again.  They sounded angry and aggressive so I asked for their supervisor.  They then hung up on me.  I reported this to Charter.  

I called this number for AT&T support (because I did a bing search for AT&T internet support and this number came up at the top of the search results) they gave me the same story that they apparently do to everyone else...  Told me my IP address was compromised and being used by people in Nigeria and Florida.  Said my personal info was probably compromised and said I needed an IP expert and network engineer to secure my IP address ASAP. They referred me to Right Tech Support and offered to connect me directly.  While they were transferring me I hung up (because I started to get suspicious).  They tried to call me back three times from a 302 area code.  I never answered.  

I would like to think I am safe since I never gave them access to my computer...  Is this a safe assumption?

I googled Comcast customer service and this number was one that showed up. IT IS A SCAM NUMBER!!! They ask for $230 to fix your problem whatever it is. Turns out Comcast was having an outage in my area and I did not know. These Indian guys said they would fix issue for $230 which of course they couldn't. I gave them my credit card info now I have to dispute the charge. The people at this number need to be arrested! Perhaps they haven't yet because they are in another country.

Ahluwalia.

Called number to cancel account. Said they were from Cox. Allowed remote access to my computer using software they asked me to download. Said account was compromised and they cannot cancel account. Need to have it cleaned up first. Wanted me to go to website and pay for cleanup - my computer is being hacked from Nigeria. Showed me ip addresses accessing my network. Finally ended call after I sensed something wasn't right. Can they install virus in Windows and Apple computers? Called back same number to make sure and hang up. Now getting calls from Delaware number 302-397-0107.

they list themselves on google as working for cox communications too. they tried to take control of my laptop. i smelled trouble so i cut them off...i hope. going to get my computer checked out tomorrow.

Ditto with what happened to me:  Tracfone Customer Svc # came up as (800)982-1678.  I think we're safe because they did not take control of PC, but they got the last 4 of my SS I think.  Time will tell but I have LifeLock fwiw.

I found an ad in the Orange County Register offering WINDSTREAM Customer Support at...(drum roll).....(800)982-1678

These people masquerade themselves as Tracfone, Windstream, Comcast....  I filed a report with the FTC today and contacted Tracfone about the misrepresentations.  Have yet to hear back from CG at Tracfone.  I am hell bent on stopping these [***].  They got last 4 of my SS before I realized they were scammers.

They are at 39 Alex Dr, Attleboro MA 02703.  The house was purchased in 2007 for $303K by AHLUWALIA MANDEEP S & RUCHITA. "Mandeep Ahluwalia currently lives in Attleboro , ma. Before that, Mandeep lived in Braintree , MA. Mandeep is related to Ruchita Ahluwalia."  He is 37 years old.  Their home was purchased in 2007 for $303K.  I wonder if they pay Federal Taxes?  State?

I just tried to report these scammers to WNAC, a local Fox affiliate that services the area where the scammers live.

They hung up on me.  See?  Crime pays.

I called what I thought was Comcast (800-982-1678) and when the connection was lost, the man "Errick" called me back on this number: 302-397-0107. As you all have said, this is a scam so I reported it to the FBI's Crime Complaint Center and I encourage you all to do the same as a lot of times, they do not actively investigate 1 claim but if there are many for the same company/telephone number, they are more likely to pursue it. I called them back today to them I had reported them to authorities and they answered as Google Tech Support.
