This has been one of many calls like it that I've received claiming that we are "prequalified to get GSA contracts", and then going on to say that we can be on a GSA Schedule.  As we are a professional firm that doesn't sell products, we can't be on a GSA schedule.  GSA Schedules are negociated preferred prices for material goods, not the services of an Architecture firm.

One more item from an FAQ published by GSA:

19.May I use GSA Schedule contracts to acquire Architect-Engineer (A/E) services?

No. The GSA Schedules Program may not be used to acquire services that are subject to the procedures of FAR 36.6, Architect-Engineer Services.

Caller ID just says Toll Free Call.  This is a telemarketing call claiming that my business has pre-qualified for government grants.  This reeks of being a scam.  As soon as I started to say add my number to your do not call list the little derp hung up on me.  There is a special place in hell for these telemarketing scumbags and they better hope their seats are not next to mine.

Googled the number as it came up before I answered...found all these good posts and decided to let him sit on hold while he dreams of actually getting through to my CEO.

Persistent little bugger...he held for 2 minutes and 34 seconds!

A man called from this number asking for my CEO as well. He stumbled over pronouncing the CEO's name correctly, and once he finally got it out, I informed him that our CEO is currently in India (which is not a lie) and asked if I could take a message. He said "No, I'll just try calling him back later" and hung up. Good luck with that, buddy- I'm blocking your phone number! You won't be getting through to our company again.

Caller asked for an office manager who was fired over 11 years ago.  This happens periodically and always results in the inquiry being a scam or telemarketing call so I put the caller on hold.

He hung-up rather quickly.  However, no less than 20 seconds later, I received a call from 813-356-0305.
asking for the same, fired office manager.  I suspect these two numbers must be related.

As of 11/25/14 so it's current.
GREENVILLE, S.C. —When Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi charged a company near Tampa with violating the state's Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, WYFF News 4 Investigates found a Greenville connection to the lawsuit.
The injunction, filed Nov. 5, against Federal Verification Co., Inc. of Oldsmar, Florida, also names GSA Greenville and GSA South Carolina as part of the same operation.
According to the lawsuit, Federal Verification, which operates "under the name of GSA Applications and numerous other fictitious or other names," misled customers across the country "as to the likelihood of successfully landing a government contract."
"This company is doing a shell game," a former employee of the Greenville office told WYFF News 4 Investigates on the condition his name is not mentioned and his face isn't shown.
The company is accused of collecting advance fees of $5,000 to $8,000 dollars, while "assuring the business it qualifies for a five to 20 year GSA contract award." The lawsuit  also says salespersons "were assigned various aliases and business names to use when selling their services.
The former employee claims calls from the Pelham Road office appeared to be coming from cities across the country to make the company seem bigger.
"Phoenix, Arizona, Tucson, Arizona, there was Chicago, Illinois, Atlanta, Georgia, Des Moines, Iowa, Washington, D.C. It kind of went on and on," he said. "They gave me an email out of corporate from Florida with a list of fake company names. They wanted me to pick one. Most of them were very bad names. I picked the best one that I thought, and I picked the location, which was Atlanta."
He said the job paid good money and claimed some salespersons made several thousand dollars per week, often by telling businesses they qualified for federal contract, when they did not.
"(They sold) companies that weren't a fit or didn't meet the criteria. Anything to get the sale, they would do," he said.
WYFF News 4 Investigates tried repeatedly to contract the Pelham Road office for comment. John Warren is listed in a press release issued by the company as the president of Contract Award Services, one of the companies named in the Florida Attorney General's lawsuit.
In a 2013 court filing, Warren is listed as National Sales Director for GSA Applications, another company named in the injunction.
When phone calls and emails were not returned, WYFF News 4's Tim Waller went to the office at 7003 Pelham Road and approach Warren on the sidewalk outside.
"You guys are on private property," Warren said. "You need to leave, gentlemen. This is GPE. You have the wrong company."
"Can we talk to you?" Waller asked.
    "No. Please leave," Warren said.
GPE is a new company that is not listed in the Florida lawsuit. The former employee said GPE stands for GSA Program Experts. He showed  us online reviews that say GPE is also a government contract company. One review thanked "John Warren and his team" for helping them secure a contract.
