Got the same scam scare tatic's. Sent them a picture of a $400 dollar check online. Called my husband. He called his cousin, an IT person. Called the back. Shutdown the check and the account. Cousin has us install Malware Bytes on my computer. He then ran a three scan of my computer to weed out the crap these scumbags put into it. They called me today 7/12/21. I filed a report with the DoNotCall bureau and the FBI. These low life's need to be stopped. Arrested and tossed in jail forever. Bad people. If you computer screen flashes a warning that your computer is about to hacked. Unplug it. Do not reply.

I am writing this one behalf of my mother who was scammed by Neuro Marketing LLC this past June with a Pop Message that said, her computer had a virus and to call this number immediately for assistance.  She did call and she was assisted supposedly.  They indicated her antivirus was not working and needed to be re-installed, the fire wall was not working and her router had security issues.  She allowed them to supposedly fix her computer then  and charged her $499.99, accepting payment via check.  This was all a lie.  According the Antivirus software website hub, her computer was totally protected at the time of the scam and they did actually did nothing to the antivirus software.  They claimed to have fixed the other issues indicated but did nothing because I monitor her computer remote but probably add malware.  However, there were no new programs installed on the date of the scam. We backed up her data only, the hard drive was wiped and windows re-installed all the same.

The next day following the scam, I immediately told her not to use her computer.  We called the bank and reported she had been scammed and asked for a stop payment on the check and had that account closed. The bank rejected the check. We have not heard anything further from them. She is not taking calls or accepting email or US mail from them.   I consider the case closed but we are closely monitoring her situation.
