If they're legit, why are you here? You obviously know who the number belongs to so why did you look it up?

They are a legitimate company performing background checks for past/current employees.

This number just called my office and immediately started asking questions about where my office is located, who my boss was, and other information. I felt very uncomfortable and when I asked why they were calling or who they were looking for, they just ignored me and kept asking questions. I didn't give out any information that wasn't already available to the public, but still felt very uncomfortable. Never said why they were calling or why they needed all this information. Very weird.

I received a call to my office this afternoon checking on an employee.  I checked with my employee and it is a legitimate phone number verifying job employment.  I just wanted to put a positive note on this phone number as I came to this site to check it out and it seemed like most were saying it was spam or phishing.

So after you checked and found out it was "legitimate", you then looked up the number anyway?  What would be the point of that?

If it's legitimate,  what's the name of the company doing the verification?

Said right away i was on a recorded line ....Wanted to confirm employment on one of our previous employees wanted to know salary and dates right then. Was extremely pushy . I told them i would be happy to assist them but I was busy at the time and would look it up and asked for number to call them back . Was very very hard to understand

So this woman Arleen Rogers calls from 8009938762 and states that she is from a hire right which she stated that she is in India to verify employment status and personal information about me. Second call today from a Magbutay with a strong accent to verify again my information. If you are calling to verify employment from a company the caller ID must show the companies name not a personal phone. These people are just calling so you can give out your personal information and steel your identity. These are dangerous people. Why should a company in CT hire some one in India to verify employees.

I received a call to verify employment for one of my former interns. I did verify the company is legitatmite (Hire Right). They just asked to verify the dates she was employed. Not any SSN# or other red flag information. My former intern did let me know I would be contacted by the company she was applying with.

Called numerous times over the last couple of days using the same number, 800-993-8762. The first day they claimed to be from CensorRight (Asked three times for name to verify it) and now today they are claiming to be from HireRight. I read these reviews after the first time and was immediately suspicious of this caller. I became more suspicious when they stated that they were calling on a recorded line and need to verify employment for an employee and if I could help with that. I asked what information they needed and they asked me to proved the full ss#, DOB, pay, and address of the employee. I refused citing company policy and state laws regarding this type of situation. They became irate with me and began to demand to talk to my manager. I refused, saying that due to my suspicions I suspected that this was a scam call and that I was ending the call. After I hung up on them, they continued to call for about an hour where I repeatedly sent them straight to voicemail. They never left a message. I told my supervisor about this and he said that handled it correctly by stating company policy to release that kind of information with the employee's WRITTEN approval.

Hireright.com toll free number is listed on their website: 800-400-2761. It is a different number!

Called 6 times, went straight to voicemail (suspected spam) - they left a voicemail with heavy accent. However, instead of leaving the employee name they left supervisors (my!) name as the person they are trying to verify. So, while they are legit - had to confirm that with the employee and their prospective new employer - they absolutely need training!

This is a DEBT Collector using the name HireRight.  Hireright is a company that does background checks for employers, but they do them electronically not by call.  When I asked for her name and phone number to verify the change in policy with my corporate office they hung up on me

If they are legit they would not be calling personal phone lines, they would be calling listed business landline and asking to speak directly with someone in Human Resources and or Payroll who can legally verify personal information.

We received multiple calls from Melvin over two days from HireRight for employment verification, and if he couldn't get me on the phone (the one who does verifications), he would call multiple extensions and get other staff members, who kept forwarding them to my voicemail. When I verified with my former employee that the call was legit, I called him back and told him it was rude to call so many times and bothering my staff. He apologized. I then gave him former employee's job title and start/end dates. That's all he asked for. What an awful company.

Hire Right is a background check/verifier for people applying for positions within the US.  If you are getting calls from them, it is either because you or someone else either in the company or your home has applied for a new position.

Heavy accent, barely spoke English. Claiming they wanted to verify employee employment. Sounds fishy.

Caller with thick accent asking to verify employment, calling from Hire Right.  I called the number, it goes no where, rings once, then silence.  Suspicious.
