That's the social security help desk call back number

Have been on social security disability for about 25 years so I kind of know how they talk when you call and wait on a hold sometimes they used to have call backs but you usually have to speak your name at the tone well I called and they said it would be a 60 minute wait and didn't say nothing about a call back that time and I had to hurry up and answer the other line cuz I had an emergency call coming in so I hung up call back the same 1-800-772-1213 put it on speakerphone and I thought it sounded different than it did before and it was just talking differently than normally and it asked if I wanted to call back this time but I noticed it didn't you know repeat my phone number or did it say speak your name after the tone so I was kind of a little scared so I called back again and got the same message from the first time that said the call wait time is around 60 minutes or greater didn't offer a call back then either that's when I knew something wasn't alright so I stayed on the whole this time which was around 5pm I think I live in Arkansas so I think it's Central standard Time I'm not for sure anyways I sat on hold for I think it was 2 hours and 15 minutes and by then it was 7:15pmI think so I hung up cuz I figured they were closed something wasn't right and it was Friday which I can't really call nobody tomorrow to find anything out I was just trying to update my direct deposit

Didn't leave a Msg and I have no idea who it is but it says it's Potential Spam from my carrier.

They called and asked for my social security number of course social security when you call there's longer than an hour wait and they say that's the number that's going to be calling you back is this legit I don't know they asked for very personal questions that I have never had to ask for before

Called social security. They put me on the call back list. This number called back after 8 pm.

I called Social Security and this number called me back. Is it a scam?

If what you said were true then when you request a call back they ask you to say your name and record it.  Then when they call back you hear your name on the recording.  Obviously you didn't so it wasn't SS.

I waited for social Security to call back. They called at 930 pm said they were calling from Honolulu.  I gave them my personal information.  Are they social Security

Asked for a LOT of information, including full social security number.  I stopped when they asked where I was born?

You gave them your full SS# but didn't want to give them your publicly available DOB?  Seriously?

he asked for all types of information and told me i had to make a account with social security and make a appointment online then he proceeded to tell me where the ss office is

I asked  to get a call back When i spoke to who ever she was she was very intrusive i have never had to put my son on the phone to verify it was him last month he turned 18 and they stopped his dissability benefits that my son was receiving and  i had to go in person to SS office and verify he is still in High School and i have been going in person giving Social Security paper work and i have also been calling SS phone for over a month. Neither the office said he had to be there with me or when i talked to SS by phone that he had to talk to them on the phone. I asked to speak to the supervisor she asked for my name she said she did not not know my name i said how can that be  you have to verify my name when you called she asked my first and last as if she did not know it and than she asked for my number and she said she does not know it i said you just called me back how can that be!!!! I want to report her if she does work for SS her interrogation was unacceptable and I demand apology or i will take it to a higher level and my dissability worker to press charges on this workerI had to wake up my son and because he has special needs yes i have to tell him things and she was saying i need to speak to him. When I got back on the phone with her she said I heard you talking to him you can write down on apiece of paper what you want to say to him i said excuse me i will talk to my son the way I have communicated all these years with his special needs you dont tell me how should talk to my son he has audio sensory processing disorder and i have to explain him things her telling me i have to write it on a piece of paper so he can read what i am saying to him. Not to mention he also has dysgraphia and dyslexia. I am furious but now i am very concerned after i hung up i had a sick feeling that this was a scam than i looked up the number and it said  that this number has been reported as a scam after reading the comments on this feed back. I do remember many times i did get a call back from SS they do have me say my first and last name and for her to not have that information has really upset me. She said we dont have any of that information when we call back. Than How come she did not ask me for my information before talking to me. I am expecting a call back from supervisors I will know this number is legitimately the minute i ask them to verify who they are and if that lady was legit i am going to take further actions on the mannerism she had with me in all the Years I have been on disability I have  never been interrogated and yes this was an interrogation!!

Not true I had this happen to me today I never had to record my name or anything and when this number called I said hello she said hi this is social security how can I help you... No prompting for name address phone number nothing

That is what scammers do, they pretend to be from the SSA, but they don't have the ability to play back a recording of you saying your name to prove it is who you spoke to when you called them.
If you got a call and never initiated any SSA interaction, then you got called by a scammer because the SSA doesn't just call you out of the blue, as your vague commentary seems to suggest.

It's the Social Security administration. One must understand they are not the brightest stars in the sky, by far. So they will ask stupid questions, when they are not talking to you like a sack of worthless rotten flesh that they personally pay for. Sometimes things actually get done. They are kicking Americans off right and left for no reason, not to mention all the illegal denials. But it is S.S.
