I just received a call from this number today and it is not a fraud!  I am an ebay power seller and I occasionally get calls from ebay informing me about current promotions and specials.  The caller, Lisa, left a message and was simply informing me of the current ebay promotions, and what she mentioned matched the info I received in an official e-mail from ebay this morning.

    R E L A X!  :)

Some of you are so paranoid!  It is legitimately Ebay trying to get you involved in some other programs.  If you don't want these calls anymore, simply go to My eBay > Preferences > Newsletters, Promotions and Event Notifications > Telephone updates, and turn them off.

I have been getting these calls on my cell phone for the last few days. I don't believe that they are from E-bay, if you go to the web site listed for this number they want to know if you want your picture taken with a naked cowboy !!  I think this is very much a scam, be very careful, I had my pay pal hacked into and all of my funds taken. I got them back , but it took a long time.  So don't "Relax" and be very "paranoid" ! these people are smart and have nothing to do all day but figure out how to get over on you and me.

    FRAUD ALERT! BEWARE!

This is a FICTITIOUS telephone number used for supposed eBay marketing calls which DO NOT originate from eBay!

The voicemail left on my cell phone went like this:

"Hi, my name is ... and I'm calling in reference to [your eBay User id here]. I just wanted to let you know that eBay is making changes to it's trading assistant program. You must create new profile by February 11, 2008 in order to remain in the directory. Please go to: ebaytradingassistant.com. Thank you for using eBay."

All legitimate eBay web pages will have ebay.com/ in the web address. The address provided above does not originate from eBay. If you do a simple Google search for "eBay trading assistant", this URL does not appear as one of the top sites!

You can also double check by logging into your eBay account, searching for "trading assistant" and making a note of the URL from there.

I received a call this morning from this number.  It shows up as somewhere in Texas.  A male asked for my husband and stated that he wanted to help him maximize his business sales.  I told him that I would be glad to have my husband call him back.  He advised me that with him being in a call office it would be too hard, but that he would send my husband an email.

I am not an ebay client and I got this phone call as well, they did not leave a message though...If all of the top google search results say this is a scam it probably is.  Just dont be stupid, call ebay back at a different number and see why they were calling.

This number is legitimate, its the outgoing number that eBay uses for its Salt Lake City branch...could be anything from an outreach call to Trust and Safety issues.

This is a legitimate call from eBay. They called me to tell me about updates to the Giving Works program and to remind me of some upcoming workshops. They did not ask for any information.

I am a powerseller on ebay but since I have had "NO PHONE CALLS" stated in my ebay preferences for years I don't know why they would call me. Just listened to the message and it is obviously from a call center in INDIA. Wanted to tell me about changes to the giving works program and a workshop that is coming up. I'm sure it's legit. Don't know why they call when I have asked not to be called.
