- NCLREZ replies to KateThis "is a valid Ebay Phone number
- SeattleJoeThere's no way I will believe this is a legitimate eBay number. Sure, I started receiving calls as an eBay iPhone sale was processing, but after two calls (which I did not answer, as I didn't recognize the number), they finally left a message.
The message was automated (with a digital voice), saying that my Mastercard was locked for security reasons, press "1" to unlock.
Yup, that sure sounds like a scam to me!!!!!- Caller: eBay???
- SeattleJoeI got another call, from the same number, this time with a recording reminding me of how to expedite future eBay sales. It sounded very legit, and included tips that are listed on the eBay website, and didn't ask me to do something stupid. Rather, the message directed me to the eBay website: ebay.com/shipping
Weird.
It's also possible that this message is supposed to make me feel better about answering future calls from this number, where I might fall prey to a scam.
Is it possible to spoof a phone number on Caller ID??? All calls indicate the same:
(801)545-1800 Midvale, UT- Caller: eBay???

Ebay knows there' s lots of scams out there wright? why the not communicating this trough emails like when let you know is time to pay your fees?
-------
...because everyone knows there are so many fewer email scams than phone scams, right?
Do people even think before they post?
-eBay calls their members, mostly sellers, and especially PowerSellers (like me).
-if you are not getting calls, and are a PowerSeller, chances are you opted out (like, the first time they called you and you said "don't call me again" because you were paranoid that it was not really eBay)
-this is the number that they have been calling from for several years
-how would they know your eBay ID, name, AND phone number to call you and identify you by name and eBay ID?
-i don't have to "prove" anything, when the burden of proof required is not that this is legitimate, but that it is not. In other words, all you paranoid people should call the number back, or contact eBay (whereupon you will be given a PIN number and phone number to contact eBay with - it isn't public without a request so that it will not be constantly phished - a protection for YOU, so you don't get scammed). - pwtexasI received a legitimate message from eBay from this phone number today. I just sold my first item on eBay last week, and it was a prerecorded message reminding me that some of my funds may not be available until a certain number of days after the delivery is confirmed. It also gave tips on shipping within 24 hours and buying shipping and tracking through eBay so I can get paid faster, etc. The message did not ask me to call or login anywhere or to do anything else.

- ChrisThis is not a spam number. This call is from eBay, they called because i have an eBay store and wanted to make sure everything was going ok.
- Caller: eBay
- Dave| 2 repliesHas it occurred to everyone that both sides could be right? Spoofing your caller id sounds like a pretty good way to convince someone you're legitimate...
- Sir Bedevere replies to Dave| 1 replyDave is correct: Some of the calls could be legit and some scams. The criminals who work this way spoof their Caller ID and the smart ones fake their Caller ID to show phone numbers of the businesses they're impersonating. Some of them may even get information on which numbers to spoof from *this* web site.
Always assume a call is a spoof until proven otherwise. End the call and call the business in question back at a known valid number for them. - JanYes, it's eBay. Sometimes your caller ID will say eBay and sometimes, it just shows the number. They call Power Sellers all the time. I wish they didn't call as often as they do because they just reiterate what they've already sent you in seller update messages. They have never, ever asked me for any info. They DO sometimes ask for the account holder, by name. And, they DO call if there's an unresolved problem too.
- Caller: eBay
- Call type: Event reminder
- AndreaJust got a call from this number. I am an Ebay Power Seller and never received a call from this number before. No Message was left, caller just hung up.
- SolHere is infested of scammer supporters as well....This number is a fraud...I'm not Ebay member but got a call from this number and trying to fish info...BEWARE!!
- Call type: Telemarketer
- KataraI would just like to say that I am nowhere NEAR being a power seller and I received a couple of calls from them within the same week. I didn't answer it, they didn't leave a voice message saying they were eBay and I receive nothing that said that had been a legit number. The number is a fraud and anyone who thinks otherwise is either an idiot or in on the scam. I am not paranoid and usually very trusting, but I can spot this as a scam from ten miles away.
- DerekI gotta agree with Katara,
I tried to block this number twice through my carrier (Sprint).... and the calls keep coming in. this is proof that they are spoofing the number and are a fraud. Legitimate business would not spoof numbers.- Caller: FRAUD
- KSRepeatingly getting calls forom this number, even after asking them not to call and registering my number on the DO NOT CALL Registry
- UnknI called Customer Support of eBay they said they'll never contact you via phone. So it is a scam.
- ebay sellerI received a call back from this number regarding a credit refund to my credit card. The representative did not ask for any person information and gave me the option to call eBay back if I wanted. My refund showed up the next day. I'd say this is legitimate.
- Caller: eBay
- Eric| 1 replyThis is fake 100% i called ebay and asked them if this number was legit and they told me that they didnt call me and that it was not one of their numbers.
