I received the same phone call verbatim.  Per the IRS website, call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at (800) 366-4484 or file a complaint using the FTC Complaint Assistant; choose other and then imposter scams.

Call was received on my cell phone, showing out of state call.  Did not answer and caller hung up.  No message left.

just received call.  Same message as everyone else.  Thank you for reporting.

This number has called me three times and leaves a message on my answering machine to call back immediately.  I haven't and won't.  Please put a stop to this.

same thing happen to me but in this case the persons name was john Steve  id #757508 telling me that i needed to pay $1690.

They called me and left a voicemail: "Case file. Immediately call our department number"

I got the same cal...If you listen carefully the scam "tip-off" is in the first sentence of the recorded message...This is the "Internal Revenue Service(s)". Services is a misnomer and the subtle tip-off. . The real IRS is simply Internal Revenue Service. The scammers are smart and know if they actually said Internal Revenue Service the IRS would be all over it.

The same as everyone else it is a scam

Said purpose of the call was to inform me that the IRS was filing a law suit.  Did not return the call as is obviously a scam.

I just got off the phone with them and had almost the same exact conversation you did.  When I asked for paperwork, he said they wouldn't send any paperwork, but federal authorities would show up at my door with a warrant.  I told him I would take my chances with the police and hung up on him.  I figured it was a scam when I could (1) hear all kinds of back ground noise; (2) he didn't ask for my social or any identifying information; or (3) he said I wouldn't give any paperwork.  He gave me an American name, but his accent was heavily middle eastern.

I received a call from this number 817--440-4322 and 830-255-4630 stating that the IRS is filing a suit against me (automated message).  When I called the number back, it was a man with a very heavy middle eastern accent claiming his name was Jon Speeve and his IRS ID #757508.  He was telling me that the lawsuit has been filed and that the authorities would be at my door, but if I wanted to resolve the issue without court, I could pay a certain amount.  When I told him I'd already reach a settlement with the tax court for the years he's specifying, he kept repeating that I owed the IRS a certain amount and if I didn't pay that amount, the authorities would be at my door with an arrest warrant.  O_o  I became very suspicious when he only asked me to verify the phone number I received the message on and my name, but did not ask for my SSN or any other tax payer info.  When I asked why haven't I received paperwork stating I owed more money, he said no one would send me paperwork, and a federal agent would show up on my doorstep.  After that, I told him I'd take my chances with the authorities, and hung up on him.  I then found this website which confirmed my suspicions that this was a fraudulent

If you do in fact owe back taxes, the IRS sends a letter, they do not call.  This happened to a family member who was receiving disability  payments and did not realize taxes would still need to be paid.  And unless it is true tax evadion, you will not go to jail.  The IRS would work out a payment process or garnish your income.

This number leaves messages saying they are the Irs. And looked the number up and it says it is a scam. I am glad I looked it up

Call received on my cell phone about IRS and I need to call back. Did not call back since caller was unknown.

I called it back, a man with a thick asian accent answered and says hello is this (my name). I said yes, he proceeded to tell me he was from the IRS and that the someone was filing a lawsuit against me and was coming to arrest me and going to take my income tax, state and federal. Do I want them to help assist me in this matter? I said that is impossible, I havent worked in years and he said how many I said since 2008 and I have cancer so I wont be working any time soon. He said oh, let me get your file and I will call you back. I'm guessing he put me in the do not call pile. I am also betting this is a new form of identity theft.
