Well, he hopes to scare you into paying money to him so this phony "IRS" threat will go away.   Old scam.  Been around for years.

If you call 818–474–2200  A female will answer US treasury.   This is not true it is a spoof.  The scammers not important enough for anyone to take any enforcement action.   I just call and harass him back.

I get the same calls. Most of the time the answering machine gets it. My kid sometimes picks up, so I go into my normal operation. What ever company or agency they are from I work there also. So I act concerned and them ask for a badge number, supervisor name also along with their department head so my boss can look into this further. Guess what, they try to avoid the questions and then hang up.

Call threatening legal action - supposedly from the treasury.  Caller had Indian or other accent and identified himself as Dennis Gray - - is repeatedly calling and leaving the same (probably recorded) message.  Super annoying.

Good idea to contact elderly.  They are most vulnerable to these calls!

I got a call from him this morning.  Left the usual message.  Heavy accent, but I guessed the name he left was Dennis Gray.  Odd thing is, we are actually in a dispute with the IRS, so I thought it was legit and panicked.  I called the number and got a recorded message (presumably from the phone company) that it is a "non-working number".  So, sometime in the last 2 hours they got shut down. Guess they didn't pay their bill.

They didn't get "shut down", expect the numbers that appear on your ID to be dummies to protect the caller. They're stupid but not quite dumb enough to reveal their real location. Try shutting down any answering device and see who they can threaten then.

How do you know they are orginating in India or Pakistan? Just by their accent or something more substantial.

American news journalists have tracked down their call centers. ABC News had no problem finding one in India. Went there & confronted them about scamming Americans. Unless the U.S. gets cooperation from foreign Governments there is little they can do. Simple as that.

Same number, same guy, same type of threat. He has a accent that sounds from Pakistan or India- similar to those picking up call from call centers.

Got the same SCAM phone call from Dennis Gray that everyone else here has gotten. I called the number back and started to tell them that it was being reported to the FBI - click. Then I tried calling back and the number didn't pick up. Then I called again and had an interesting conversation with some Asian Indian sounding guy that said that detectives were being notified and would be coming to my address. I told him good. That his info and voice print were being sent to the FBI and that he should leave the country. Scum bag.

Dennis Gray... You know the rest. If the call comes from out of state, I always let it go to voicemail. If the voicemail is sketchy, I google it. Thanks to others for posting!

Some guy named Dennis Grey with a recorded message. Threatening call about criminal charges that will be brought against me and he is going to help. Can't imagine what he was trying to get out of this.

The call from the above number must have come in while the phone was engaged.  Message left, but no number on Caller ID to block.  I'm sure they will call again.  Meanwhile, this person didn't leave a name.  But his accent was so thick one could cut it with a knife.  All I got was treasury and big trouble if  didn't call the number he repeated four times.  Have to wait until he calls again so I can block the number.

Got  a call , from the u.S treasury dept stating that i was behind in taxes for 2010 . I was told that if i disconected the call the ssherriff was on the way. Beleive it or not i was scared to death , so while i could not disconect the phone i rushed to two different locations to send money grams. $6930.00.   Please dont think i am this crazy but i was in fear of going to jail. Sent the money and then was told that the next morning i would need to send $1530.00 more to resolve this case. I went to the police and was told that i had been scammed. Nothing can be done for me , but please know that if you get a call from this number it is from india and is a scam.I am broke and just trying to help someone before this happens to you.
