A punk from DynaTek called me to verify my shipping address and I did. He said he wanting to mail me a catalogue. He sent me a case of box tape and a radio. They sent me an invoice for $5 per roll!!!! I buy this for $1 per roll. DynaTek is a joke of a company. I told customer service to fax me a UPS prepaid ticket so I could send their crap back to them.

Same thing here they called our Shop Foreman and asked for address so the updated product catalog could be mail out.  A week later we recieved 8 packs of 2" clear carton tape for $478.46.  What a joke.
DYANTEK is a scam company as well as OLYMPIA Supply Company.  Funny how both companies are from California.   Looks like they need some better laws out there?

    I HATE SCAMMERS

Dynatek is a scam company.  They got us on a carton of overpriced tape doing the same tactic about the catalog.  California needs to crack down on these companies.  First it was toner, then it was lamps, and now tape.

The company I work for received a call from Dynatek one day. The caller stated that she was calling from Dynatek and would be shipping a package UPS and needed to confirm some information with the person in our shipping and receiving area. We often receive phone calls from trucking companies wanting to know if we have a fork lift and a loading dock so I send those call through. I sent the call from Dynatek through also. When the person in the receiving department answered the call he was asked to confirm our address and then was told that a package would be coming via UPS. He confirmed the address and the information that the woman asked and then hung up. A few days later we received a box of tape and a crappy radio. A few days after that, we received an invoice for $478.46! We didn't actually order this, but because we confirmed our address, they sent it out and now they think they can bill us for it! Total scam!!! I called the number on the invoice and received a voicemail so I left a message. I actually did get a call back from someone claiming to be from Dynatek. I told her that this is not something we ordered and she got a little huffy and said that we did order this. I told her that I've done some research online and found out that this is a HUGE scam. She did not like that I said this to her and she insisted that it wasn't a scam. I told her that we will be sending their crappy tape and radio back and that she needed to send me a UPS tag, on their dime for shipping it back. We'll see if I actually get something via fax. If not, I guess she will be getting another angry call from me! Please don't fall for this. It's a complete pain to deal with these people. Verify that the person on the other end of the phone is a company that you order from regularly before you confirm your address!!!

Follow-up to my previous message. To return the tape, just call the phone number on the invoice and leave a message on the voicemail. Someone will call you back and then you tell them that you know it's a scam and that you're going to return the tape. Demand that they send you a call tag for UPS to ship the package back so you don't have to pay for shipping. They will fax you a tag and then you can ship it back. Include the invoice, but take a copy for your records. I wrote on the invoice "DENIED... ORDER NOT ACCEPTED AND WILL NOT PAY!!!"

Dynatek is one of those scam companies. They call and talk to anyone they can to ask what the address is and who they're talking to. Most employees assume it's a customer so they provide the info. Then a week later a box of shipping tape is received without being ordered. Then Patty from Dynatek calls the day it's delivered asking for payment status of an invoice not even received yet. $450 for 48 rolls of tape that normally costs about $50. What a joke. We told them we didn't order it, aren't paying for it and sending it back on their account. Their website says they will save you money with their low prices. Hello? $5 for a $1 roll of tape isn't saving anything.

Just to let anyone know, if you ever fall for their scam, legally you do not need to pay for the items as you didn't.  They try to fast-talk you into thinking you're just confirming your address for a shipment, or they may go the sales pitch route and offer to send you a box of free tape along with a catalog & free radio.  They may send collection notices if you refuse to pay, but they're a joke and will never pursue legal action.  Even if they do, you can just dispute it.

    Now, onto my own story:

These guys are a joke.  When I first started work at the company I work for, I was in the shipping department.  They almost got me to fall for it, but looked up their info on the internet and came across this and many other reports of them.  Fortunately, when they called back the next day to verify our address I told them to cancel the order and she said something unintelligible and hung up.  Never got anything shipped so it must've worked.

Dynatek is definitely a scam.  They tricked us the same way as all these other complaints in here.  Very unproffessional, dis honest, definitely not a legit company.  Deceive you in telling you sending warehouse supplies to check out with a gift and then you get crappy tape with an invoice with no amount on it.

These people are really lack integrity.

Sadly, I used to be an telemarketer for Dynatek Industries. The scripts we are forced to use are created for the sole purpose of deceiving a shipping employee or supervisor to verbally agree to have a complimentary catalog, Starbucks gift card, ((AND)) a "small" or "sample sized" box of tape sent to them (which is not complimentary). It an "impulse" purchase. However we never mention: the price, number of rolls shipped, or even the value of the gift card. Our scripts say they pre pay the shipping, but they don't. There is no catalog either. I doubt they have been in business for 25 years, but they are celebrating their 25th anniversary every year. All the companies they are successful at scamming have one thing in common; human interaction. Companies that use automated telephone management services are much harder to hit because its hard to get someone on the phone to verbally agree to something. Strategies I noticed companies used to defend themselves: THE BEST DEFENSE ARE SECRETARIES WHO DO NOT GIVE OUT: NAMES OF EMPLOYEES AND THEIR EXTENSION #. A lot of their successful scams come from "call backs"- getting the name of someone in shipping and or their extension number, so that way when they call back it seems like they have established business with them. IE Dynatek is their current supplies provider. Telemarketers can get that info from a secretary or when they forward them to a voice mail with that information on it. Secretaries that are not allowed to forward calls without a contact name, or give out personal information gives their telemarketers a reason to hang up and call another company. Asking to take personal messages and the return number. Telemarketers don't have incall capability. General answering machines that forward the message to the correct department. -This stops us dead in our tracks, we cant leave a message. Employees who send all catalog request information to a purchasing agent. Purchasing agents can usually smell the scam. Mention you cannot take a gift card, Our primary tool used for the impulse purchase. You no longer use clear 2 inch packing tape. You are under contract with another provider. Companies that remember our name and immediately act negatively toward our call. So how did they get your number? They get their leads from business registries and aska secretary, operator, or registry directory to speak with your shipping department. You can annoy them by contacting- Customer Relations/ Shipping Manager/ Manager of the Telemarketing call center; Bill. (Bill is the guy who confirms a verbal agreement for a shipment on voice recording) Bills personal contact info is: [removed] Im not proud of my time with Dynatek, talk about a bogus job. Dynatek goes through a lot of employees. I found the job on a craigslist posting.

Bill's personal # is [removed].  He is the one that records the verbal agreement (even though he doesn't tell you it's being recorded and he is operating out of California which is a 2-party law state meaning both parties must know they are being recorded)

Agree with the previous comments here; a HUGE lack of integrity. Alex just tried me, saying he needed to speak to our "shipping dept" about a package coming to [our street name]. Put him on hold while I looked up the name (the number was blocked) and when I came back and said "you do realize we don't have any CURRENT business with you" he just hung up. This place may JUST skirt the line of being legal, but they're beyond unethical.

This company has contacted us several times.  They finally got a hold of someone that didn't know what they were up to.  Said they would send a complimentary box of tape and a Starbucks card.  Received the box with an invoice for $478!  Ridiculously over priced and less tape per roll.  I was lucky enough to contact Patty in A/R.  Said she would fax me a return label.  Two days later, still no label.
