You put 950,000.00 into a movie.  Was that Tribbles, Klingons, Ferungi??? What???  Advisor - High risk but high reward - you need a new advisor.  Bashers should wait "six months & it will take off" - into a planet far, far away!   "A big studio is THINKING of buying this movie" -- and any executive with half a brain would run from it!!!  Your money, Patrick, has been transported into deep space.  Even Marge, Bart & Lisa would not even go to see this "classic".  D'oh!

At this point there is almost zero chance of you getting any $ back from your initial investment. This film is toxic and the whole industry knows it.  DVD and VOD sales will in now way make up for a colossal fail at the box office. There is a reason that INDEPENDENT animation films don't do well...it costs way too much money to produce a film that has to compete with Pixar, Dreamworks and the like. Next time find a small independent film with A GREAT STORY and give it a shot.  The only folks making money on this are the producers and brokers selling the shares. Everyone else is just roadkill.  These types of investments are no place for novices and thats just what the producers went after...poor schmucks who were sold on a [***] project.

They had no history of being successful in any of their projects. You can sell a dream...in reality a capable and competent team must be able to manage the process to deliver the dream.

Unless you look at the underlying assumptions and the credibility of those providing the information, you will find yourself in the same position.

I hear what you are sayin' and I accept full responsibility.  At the time I invested, Neil Kaufman in trying to convince me to buy stock was telling me about him producing a film called The Glass House which I had just watched and was under the impression it was successful ( in that it did not bomb).  I totally did not dig deep enough and I have worthless Alpine stock like others here as well as having lost the money I put into a crappy film that BOP produced.  That was nearly 10 years ago. I have been thorough to the best of my ability in my investing research since then.  I am still unhappy that I lost what I lost, but it was a paltry sum compared to some of the numbers reported here.

i think if  legends of oz Dorothy's return should have story boarded the whole movie and then showed it to potential investors and said "DO YOU WANT TO INVEST IN THIS"

Domestic Theatrical is pretty much finished. Overseas, if incredibly lucky will match. BUT that money was mostly already made in  pre-sales and should be accounted for. Licensing was pre-paid and should already be accounted for. I doubt that anything online is generating any income. DVD will be small, very small. If the generate a $1.00 per unit net they would need to sell a million units of something that will probably end up in the bargain bin. Netflix might gross $20K. The first money goes to theater owners, thats probably 50%. Then the distributors need to recoup the $30M+ they spent plus all other costs and expenses, as well as fees. Then the investors in DOZ LLC need to be paid and what is left goes to ECOZ LLC. between the llc's about $100M was raised. so the simple math says a whole lot of money needs to be generated. You should be able to ask what was sold in pre-sales overseas and what money was earned from licensing deals now. Domestic box office numbers are in and it will top at $10M maximum, $5M to the theater owners and $5M back to recoup advertising with a net loss of $25M to distributor to be recouped. Basically accounting is done. International sales are pre-sold. they will continue to attempt to sell in foreign markets but the numbers will be in the 10's of thousands at best. You will never receive proper accounting records.

With all the "celebrities" joining in, it is hard to tell if you are serious or not.  Just in case, heed what Screwed and Scam Expert replied to you.  These people took our money and we have nothing to show for it.  It apparently has been this way since the very beginning and there is no reason to think they will deviate from that path.

Expert, what is your take on some of the high dollar investors? If there are people who invested 6 figures, wouldn't you think they will be doing something to get their money back from the Carroll's and Greg C?  I am just wondering if you think there will be law suits or perhaps other means they will use which us laymen will not be privy to.  I would be fascinated to read what you think about that aspect.

They can try suing but it wont go anywhere. There is no money to sue for. I am sure The three amigos paid themselves handsomely through all of this and it would be nice to expose them through discovery.

The fact of the matter is it was likely all done legally. They made a movie and that is all that was promised. They just left out the fact they would use crappy animation, a flat story and a no-name distributor. The movie was crap and it wasn't enough to get people to part with their hard earned money at the box office. Especially during a weekend with Rio 2 and spiderman and How to Train Dragon 2 coming up.

This investment is done, toast, dead. Not one investor will see more than a penny or two on the dollar from their investment. Clarius gets first dibs on the money coming in from the theaters to pay themselves back which is half the box office as the theaters keep half. Clarius will likely lose millions on this and probably will sink their prospects as a company. The DVD sales and foreign release will be in the low millions and likely barely pay back the distributors as well. A penny or two on the dollar is what everyone needs to prepare for.


You have to be so careful about who you trust with investments and your heard earned money. I will never touch anything else other than mutual funds again, it isn't worth it. Eventually they will have to release the accounting records and it will all be there and I bet they were able to pay themselves a cool few million from the investment pool in salary and other expenses. Roland, Ryan and Greg (now joined by Bonne Radford) are doing what they do best. Taking millions and making flop movies. Any kind of vetting would have outed these fools but greed is blinding.

All we can do is hope there is a special place in hell for these losers and that no one else is taken to the cleaners by these schmucks. I hope their names are really dragged through the mud over this. Unfortunately they will likely keep the millions they plundered from this disaster.

A captain of a Federation Star Ship, anyone who's had their picture on the cover of a Rolling Stone, or anyone else who invests amounts in the 450 or 950K range, most likely meets the definition of an accredited investor and has signed a legal document that described in great detail the possible (and most likely) outcome. Hence, no recourse. Off course anyone can file a complaint against any individual or entity, and hopefully get their "day in court." Based on the disclosures in the contract it is unlikely that a complaint would hold up in court for the accredited investors. There is a big difference between those people who should have known better and just got "hosed", and between those who were cold called, not qualified, did not have the expertise, and were not "accredited." A couple of years ago The State of California actually ordered the "Dorothy Of Oz" team to refund money to "investors/victims" who were improperly sold these "shares". There should be some legal remedy for the "un-accredited." Chances of recovery are minimal since all of the money is either already spent or will soon be gone. Perhaps a SEC complaint or criminal charges could also be brought forth.
