Supposed police charity wants money to help rehab disadvantaged criminally inclined youth.  

Google search says that this is owned by Level 3 Communications, LLC (in Carmel, CA) and the number is currently on switch number SNVACAIDDS2 (switch is a technical specification for phone hobbyists).  The man on the phone asked me to donate to the California Police Activities League.  I offered $5, but he said the minimum donation is $10!  I said fine and he transferred me to a "verifier".  When the "verifier" asked me for my name and address, I didn't plan on telling her and asked her how she got my phone number.  She said she got it from various sources.  Then, she read my name and address off some list.  I confirmed it was me.  She said she would send me a donation kit.  I will look for a Tax ID number.  If it is legit, then I will donate.  If not, then forget it.  I am skeptical.  I love how both she and the first man both gave me the cookie-cutter response, "Well, every dollar counts, but..."

I recently got a call from this phone number as well. This is obviously a scam. I recognized the male's voice as a call robot programed to give certain responses to questions. At the same time It is recording your voice.  This is very tricky software.  I read up on the internet that people are using these phone bots to steal your information.  All I told the bot my phone was on the do not call list, the caller immediately switched to a different phrase.  Peony Sunflower? I would check my credit and bank accounts to see if all of them are safe. I would not doubt that the woman voice was also computer generated. I find it very suspicious.
