- MeMe| 9 repliesI got a call today from 832-604-2391 saying that i am going to be served on Wednesday and that they will come to my home or job. Never had anyone call and tell me when i am going to be served. Has anyone got a call you are going to be served a warrant?
- Alfalfa replies to MeMeThe Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
•is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
•refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
•asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
•exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
•Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
•Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
•Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
•Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fake-debt-collectors - Me replies to MeMeI just got this same message saying they would serve me for civil court and would be out with a sheriff. I don't know what it's about. Seems like a scare tactic

- Dolores Hernandez replies to MeMeI got a call today also from 832-604-2391 saying that I am going to be served on Thursday and that they will come to my home. Never had anyone call and tell me when I was going to be served. First they called my friend Betty and told her that they were looking for me and told her that he was a constable and his name was Frank Villan of Harris County but wouldn't give her the area where he was at. I called this number and spoke to Mr. Hill and I also asked for Frank Villan and he said he could help me if I had a case no. He also said he could work with me if I would give him my account number to my bank and I told him I couldn't do that. He said that would be the only way he could help me. He said he would call me tomorrow or I could call him back. I later called back the same number and another person answered. I asked if he could give me the address and the business name. He said it was a law firm and I ask him what is the name of the law firm, he wouldn't give it to me cause I wouldn't give my name. He ask me my name I said what is the law firm name. He wouldn't give it to me. Mr Hill they would have a processor serve me the papers.
- Rick G| 4 repliesInternet Payday loans. Payday loans are illegal in some states so if yours is one ignore them. They claim fraud due to they require a voided check but it's not fraud as the check is VOIDED and it's not a signed dated check written for an amount to a entity/vendor.
- Ashley replies to MeMereceived the same call the guys name was Martinez tho

- meedeoI receive the same call from a woman and she didn't even really know the call back number which she eventually said it was 832 604 2391 it would i look it up it shows to be a security company off of 1960 and 45 in Houston Texas. I'm thinking scam or worse because I do not have any legitimate debt to any company Palmer. Who reschedule a serving summons, that's ridiculous which is the first red flag. Second if somebody sue and you they don't tell you you just get served. Third you don't go to jail for having a date with a company especially if it's less than I don't know couple thousand five hundred not sure on them out but I know it goes on your credit not your criminal record. Idiots, worst part is I can even block the number because they call me from a restricted line, but this is the first time they've ever left a message and it wasn't even for me it was for my boyfriend who shares my account with me, so how they got my number for him is weird because the phones are in my name. Guess they didn't do all their homework 100%.

- dlk| 2 repliesJust recieved a threatening voice mail at my place of employment, after these people have been told numerous times that I can not except personal calls at work. They still keep calling. What should I do?? Says he's coming with the sheriffs dept to deliver a summons. Had these before and no one has showed up. He also said that each attempt was going to cost me $75 by the sheriffs dept. Which I know is not true.

- Alfalfa replies to dlkThis is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.
- MikeStates I need to call with a case number given and "voluntarily resolve this" Also must have a "stand down order" issued or sheriffs will come to my work or home to serve me. Guess they don't know I am law enforcement and this is bs. No such thing as a stand down order. I guess one way they make it legal and don't get jammed up is by saying "you can voluntarily try to resolve this issue". What issue? Seems like A bit of legal loophole by that statement alone so they don't get jammed up.

- Unknown| 1 replyI just received a call from these jokers. The lady I spoke with was ignorant. All you have to do is file a complaint against this company with https://help.consumerfinance.gov and they will take it from there. There is a lot of scammers out there, and obviously this is one of them.

- UnknownReceived the same ridiculous call/voicemail. However, the call I received was from a "restricted" number and voicemail stating being served at either my home or place of employment on a specific date & time and if I had questions about why to then call 832-604-2391. When I called it was some law firm named PHILLIPS REINHART AND ASSOCIATES. I wouldn't provide any information. Question is......did anyone ever show up to serve you in any of your situations?
- Caller: PHILLIPS REINHART AND ASSOCIATES
- B replies to JCDid they ever come?
- tnph04They are just trying to scare you... If this is CO is Phillips, Reinhard & Assc., THEY ARE DUMB. My whole situation started way back in July of 2013 here is June 2014 and will not leave me along. I took notes every conversation date & times they called who I talked to. This went on from July 2013 til Jan 2014, then I finally had enough and sent all my notes and everything to the State of Maine Bureau of Consumer Protection. Phillips, Reinhard & Assc., threatened me all the time.... Saying I was gonna go to jail, they were gonna serve me court papers, etc... NEVER HAPPENED, they just use this to scare ya. Don’t Let them fool ya. Anyways...... the state sent them a letter on my behalf to “cease & desist” This company was not the list to collect debt in Maine. A month later Phillips finally responded to the State Here is what it pretty much said :
Date of Letter March 3, 2014
We have carefully reviewed the allegations Made by Ms... *** and vehemently deny some. There were no threats of any kind made by our office and all collection efforts were preformed in compliance with applicable laws.(HA HA HA THEY MAKE ME LAUGH).
There Company was not aware you had to have a license in maine to collect debt. At this time our office will not become licensed in the State of Maine, therefore all collection calls to Ms.>*** have been ceased & desisted from any further contact to her regarding this matter.
ANYWAYS......... JUNE 3, 2014..... got a call said I need to call 832-604-2391within 24 hours or I would be served papers. I just told him yup. I never called them and I never got served papers. Now that I know its Phillip, Reinhart again..........I may just have to sue them for all this harrement......... Maybe they’ll get a hint...................DUMB PEOPLE
send a letter to your state and see what they say!
Hope this helps- Caller: Phillips, Reinhard & Assc
